New Warbands, New Tactics

How will you build your deck with the new Warhammer Underworlds expansions? We’re on hand to help! Following on from our first looks at Morgok’s Krushas and Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven, we’re looking at some top cards from each set.

As we covered in our previous look at Morgok’s Krushas, managing Waaagh! counters effectively is crucial to playing this warband. Brutal Attack is a great way to grab some extra counters while beating the stuffing out of your enemy!

Brutal Reprisal, meanwhile, punishes anyone who’d dare try to hit you back with a counter-attack!

As far as upgrades go, one of our favourites from the set is Berzerk Whirl – attach this to ‘Ardskull, and you’ll send him careening off in a random direction after each activation. Pray to Gorkamorka you end up in the thick of your enemies!

Vengeful Glare is a more defensive pick that helps you generate extra Waaagh! counters and is a must-have if you expect to come up against warbands with lots of fighters that make lots of smaller attack activations.

Few of Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven can one-shot enemy fighters without some additional help. Thankfully, with a deck full of damage-increasing gambits, this isn’t a problem – indeed, your enemy might even be tempted to over-extend, giving you the chance to strike. That’s where you play Bloodbane Venom – a card that, if you’re lucky, can provide a huge spike of damage!

As a flex warband that’ll want to hold objectives as well as slaughtering the enemy, it’s important to keep your fighters defended. Drilled to Perfection is a great way to up the durability of any exposed fighters.

When it comes to upgrades, Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven have some excellent options. One that’s well worth a look is Invigorated Attack, providing another Attack dice when you’re holding an objective – fitting this warband's play style to a T.

One truly terrifying upgrade available to Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven is Victor of a Thousand Duels. Any enemy who dares to attack Morgwaeth herself will have to contend with a potentially deadly counter-attack. Once you’ve kitted Morgwaeth out with this upgrade, make sure to send her right into the thick of your foes to make the most of it!

There are plenty of other cards to delve into and countless combos to discover in the sets.
