Festive Treats from Black Library

It seems like barely any time has passed since we were celebrating Christmas 2019 with loved ones, good food, and a stocking stuffed full of books from Black Library. Yet another is nearly upon us – and with it, all-new treasures from the worlds of Warhammer to enjoy. Let’s take a look at what’s coming your way in November and December that’ll make perfect presents this festive season.

Novella Series 3

This year’s collection of action-packed novellas is a little different from Series 1 and 2 – this time, there are five in the series, and they’ll each be available in hardback and eBook formats. The books in the series cover the worlds of Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and Necromunda.

The Rose in Anger continues Danie Ware’s saga of Adepta Sororitas Sister Augusta, as she battles hereteks on a corrupted forge world. Justin Wooley’s Prisoners of Waaagh! deals with a growing ork threat and the attempts of one slave to escape and warn the Imperium. Traitor by Deed, written by Ben Counter, resurrects the ill-fated Soul Drinkers Space Marine Chapter – or at least a new Primaris Chapter by that name. Will they fare better than their forebears? Time will tell…

In the Mortal Realms, David Guymer’s Bonereapers sees a city in the Realm of Death battle alongside Fyreslayer allies to free itself from the Bone Tithe after generations of terror. Finally, Spark of Revolution is a Necromunda tale by Gary Kloster that focuses on the slave ogryn Breaker Brass. Freed from the foundries of his House Goliath masters, he seeks revenge – by raising his fellow slaves and starting an uprising!

All five of these novellas will be available early in November.

Advent Art Box

The artwork on Black Library covers is always a joy to behold, and with the Advent Art Box, you’ll be able to behold a lot of it – 25 pieces of A3 art, to be precise. Some present the full cover art in all its glory, while others have been turned into movie poster-style images and other high concept prints. One is even printed entirely on foil! Each print is individually enveloped, so you can open one per day as Christmas Day approaches.

You’ll be able to get your hands on this deluxe boxed set, which is limited to just 1,250 copies, in November.

Speaking of Advent, Black Library traditionally brings you a series of digital short stories, and this year is no exception. Expect twelve tales that will offer you new adventures for some of your favourite characters, and tie into releases from this year and next.

Lone Wolves

The sons of Fenris battle tyranids in this classic graphic novel from Dan Abnett and Karl Richardson, coming back to print in a new hardback edition.

Like Daemonifuge and Bloodquest before it, Lone Wolves has been given a full-colour facelift, making it more immersive and visually impressive than ever before. Watch out for it at the start of December.

A Wintry Surprise

Okay, Christmas is only in winter across half the world, but you can’t deny there’s a certain tradition connecting snowy vistas and the festive season. This year’s limited mega edition also has a link to the cold, white stuff, as well as grey armour, brutal savagery, and one of the other releases above. That’s all we can say for now – join us next Wednesday to find out more…
