Warcry: Catacombs hits stores this weekend, and we’re here to tell you why you need this action-packed skirmish game in your life! Here are eight reasons to get involved – one for each point on the Chaos Star.
Warcry’s warbands have done wonders for fleshing out the imagery of the Chaos-worshipping denizens that vie for power and the favour of Archaon Everchosen in the Eightpoints. What’s more, the miniatures themselves are some of the best in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar range! From the armoured behemoths of the Iron Golem to the frankly rather disturbing warriors of the Unmade, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to warbands. And now, of course, you’ll soon be able to use the first dedicated aelven warband in the form of the Khainite Shadowstalkers!
As a fast-paced skirmish game, Warcry can easily be played in less than an hour, making it great for lunchtime gaming or for fighting a bunch of battles in an evening. What’s more, you’re guaranteed a fun and exciting conflict whenever you do!
Warcry allows you to explore the Chaos-warped realm of the Eightpoints as never before. Play either as one of the native tribes of that dark and twisted land or as interlopers from beyond who dare to traverse its deadly plains for their own nefarious purposes. You can even hunt the dread beasts and vicious creatures that dwell within the Eightpoints. Were it not for the constant risk of death by its myriad denizens or physical mutation by the corrupting power of Chaos, it could almost be a place you’d want to visit!
Since the game’s launch, loads of other warbands have been added to the Warcry roster – including those originating far beyond the borders of the Eightpoints. These warbands hail from all four of the Grand Alliances, all of whom have ventured into Archaon’s inhospitable realm for fame, fortune, or other more dastardly reasons, and encompass many of the most popular miniatures from Warhammer Age of Sigmar. If you’ve got ’em, chances are you can use ’em!
With slick rules that are really quick to pick up, new players can learn the ropes of Warcry in next to no time. What’s more, as a skirmish game, you only need a handful of miniatures, so it won’t take long before you’ll have a fully painted warband to use!
The innovative story-based quests are ace fun, offering a completely different spin on traditional skirmish campaigns. Furthermore, each is tailored to your warband’s faction and so complements their nuanced goals perfectly. You can engage in monster hunts or the four fated quests in Warcry: Catacombs that can be undertaken by ANY warband! If you love narrative in your games, this is where it’s at!
With a single, fold-out board, a handful of terrain, and two warbands rarely comprising more than ten models apiece, Warcry is super-easy to transport and quick to set up, meaning you can be stuck into the violence just a few minutes after deciding to play!
Warcry: Catacombs allows you to take the action from the barren, ashen wastelands of the Bloodwind Spoil into the sulphurous underground caverns beneath it. You can fight fierce duels over perilously narrow bridges and leap fiery, lava-filled chasms as you vie for dominance. You can actually kick your enemies into a fiery grave! Why fight fair when you can let scalding hot lava do the dirty (or melting) work for you?
Warcry: Catacombs is awesome in every conceivable way (well, at least eight!), so what are you waiting for? Pre-order your copy now!
