Everyone needs a break now and then. Whatever your everyday life holds, getting away from it all and visiting somewhere new is a real treat.
If you’re looking for your next vacation spot, may we suggest the Mortal Realms? These eight lands all have their own splendid sights, along with new friends to meet. Each of them will appeal to a certain kind of holidaymaker – check out our suggestions based on what you want from your time away.
AQSHY
Best for… Sunbathers
Top up your tan and enjoy the heat of the Realm of Fire. Whether you want to lounge at the edge of a lake of fire or tan while you climb a volcano, there are plenty of opportunities for bronzing here. You’ll find that your passions run as wild as the weather, so be sure to keep your cool if you encounter any of the locals. Some of them are friendly but with fiery tempers, while others will want you to take part in their quaint rituals – do so at your own risk.
AZYR
Best for… Stargazers
Where better than the Realm of Heavens to watch the stars go by? You’ll be so close that you can practically touch them. This is the perfect family holiday, as you can teach your little ones the constellations. If you’re lucky, you might even see some of them come to life to smite the forces of Chaos! There’s also lots to see, including the remains of the world-that-was, the palace of Sigmaron where the Stormcast Eternals are forged, and the shining city of Azyrheim, where you can pick up souvenirs forged by the Six Smiths.
CHAMON
Best for… Aerial Adventurers
Get up, up, and away, and see the shining scenery of the Realm of Metal from a skyvessel’s observation deck. As a guest of the Kharadron Overlords, you may find the accommodation cramped, but the views are unmatched. Remember, your hosts will expect to be well compensated – low tippers have been known to involuntarily leave the tour while it’s still in flight.
GHUR
Best for… Thrill Seekers
Go on safari on the plains of the Realm of Beasts. Every kind of creature imaginable is yours to hunt – alongside many you couldn’t conceive in your darkest nightmares. Maybe you’ll even bag one of the fabled Mega-Gargants… although it’s more likely that they’ll bag you. Really, they might stuff you in a bag to eat later. Either way, this is the ultimate adventure for adrenaline junkies, as you’ll be both hunter and prey at once.
GHYRAN
Best for… Nature Lovers
Walk through sun-dappled groves, bathe in natural springs, and take in all that the Jade Kingdoms have to offer. This is the ideal honeymoon destination – you can start your journey together in the Realm of Life. Just don’t carve a heart and your initials into the local trees. Not only is it strictly forbidden, but they might wake up and seek vengeance on the unwary lovers who gave them a new scar.
HYSH
Best for… Bookworms
Whether you’re seeking spiritual enlightenment or just want to lose yourself in a good book, the temples and libraries of the Realm of Light will be your haven. Expand your knowledge, get in touch with your inner deity, and fill your senses in the company of the Lumineth Realm-lords. Don’t be put off if they’re a bit aloof – they’re simply contemplating reality and life on a level the rest of us can never hope to achieve. Or their finely-honed aelven senses are offended by your smell.
SHYISH
Best for… Tortured Souls
If you fancy yourself a misunderstood poet or your heart’s been torn asunder by a faithless lover, wandering the Realm of Death might just put your problems into perspective. When you see the torture that Nagash inflicts upon those within his domain, your petty issues will pale into insignificance. The locals are simply dying to meet you. Be careful not to leave too much of yourself behind… and remember that while you might be able to go back to your old life for a while, you’ll return to the Shyish eventually.
ULGU
Best for… Solitude
Get away from it all and lose yourself, quite literally, in the mist-shrouded valleys of the Realm of Shadow. All your cares will drop away as you experience perfect isolation, with only the shadows of your own anxieties to deal with – unless you run into some of the priestesses native to the region. They’ll definitely take your mind off whatever ails you, and if you’re unwary, they might just steal your heart too.
Thinking about it, it may just be safer to stay at home and start a new army from the realm you like the look of.
