Yesterday we looked at two (or three) of the new Heroes leading Teclis’ Lumineth vanguard and the frankly ludicrous weapons they carry. In our quest to bring you a new rule every day this week, we’re taking a more spiritual approach today by finding out who will be accompanying the Alarith temple to the battlefield.
As the second of the aelementiri temples to lend their aid to the Lumineth army, the wind-adepts of the Hurakan specialise in incredible feats of speed and dexterity. They contrast their strong and sturdy cousins in the Alarith brotherhood – whose distinct bovine helmets you’ll remember from last year’s Lumineth debut.
Whether it’s with bow or fan, Treerunner steed or aelementor wind, the Hurakan temple’s disciples go to war with the wind at their backs. You might as well try to nail down a breeze as catch them in a combat they don’t want to be in, thanks to their unique battle trait.
Being able to flow effortlessly around their foes when charging means that the Hurakan rarely have to compromise on their target of choice. All the better to fell foes with the Windchargers’ signature close-range archery or dish out a whack on the noggin with a Windmage’s fan.
The aelementiri spirits, who form an integral part of Lumineth culture, also lend their spritely magics to the most dedicated of the Hurakan order. As you might expect, there’s something of a breezy theme to the Lore of the Winds, but what you might not realise is that these magical zephyrs can do more than just buffet your enemies about.
When a Hurakan general is elected to lead a force to war, they lend their speed and commanding perspective to the Lumineth warhost. Of particular note is their ability to enhance even more of their mounted kin than usual, with a huge 24” range of Windcharger-buffing prowess.*
Lastly, any self-respecting general wouldn’t be seen dead on a battlefield without an artefact to spruce up their wargear, and the Hurakan are no different. We’ve mentioned the Windmage’s fans already and, as good as they are for giving an opponent a splitting headache, it takes a particularly magical one to send entire units spinning across the battlefield.
Will you be joining Teclis’ expedition to punish Nagash for his role in the Necroquake and bring about the end of the Soul Wars? Stay tuned to Warhammer Community this week as we cover more of the Lumineth Realm-lords’ newest arrivals and delve deeper into the next entry in the Broken Realms saga.
* In case you’re curious, even a regular Windmage can affect Windchargers within 6”.
