April’s issue of White Dwarf magazine is coming soon, so we reckon it’s time we take a look inside and see what’s up.
But before we reveal the contents of issue 463, remember that April Fool’s Day isn’t until Thursday, so you can trust them to be 100% correct. We promise.
Now that we know what’s in the magazine, let’s zoom in on some of our favourite articles in this issue, starting in the Mortal Realms for some hands-on Flashpoint action.
War For Tepok’s Eye
Immersing yourself in the unfolding saga of Warhammer Age of Sigmar by refighting the key battles is at the very pinnacle of narrative play. Can you do better than the warring parties in the original tale or change the fate of those involved by winning a battle that your side lost in the narrative?
These campaigns evolve and adapt based on the outcome of each battle, creating a replayable narrative experience that can shift the balance of power in the Broken Realms.
This is very much the case with The Battles for Tepok’s Eye – a four-part mini-campaign set during the Broken Realms saga as part of the ongoing Flashpoint series. Over the course of the campaign, the forces of Chaos battle the Seraphon and even each other, as Be’lakor (who is back and absolutely enormous) sends forth his legions to enact a crucial part of his masterplan. Want to get involved? Don’t miss this issue.
What’s our top pick from the grim darkness of the far future?
Galactic War Hosts: Forge World Metalica
In the current issue of the magazine, we got to read an in-depth breakdown of how to paint the forces available to the Aeldari of the Biel-Tan Craftworld. This time around, it’s the turn of the Adeptus Mechanicus forces from the forge world of Metalica.
The Charadon Sector may be undergoing a massive invasion by Typhus and his Death Guard, but be in no doubt that Metalica has some truly awesome military power at its disposal – and that’s without including the vast numbers of Imperial Knights commanded by their vassals of House Raven on nearby Kolossi.
As well as an overview of the sub-faction, the article includes stage-by-stage painting instructions detailing how to apply their colour scheme to infantry and vehicle models, as well as painted examples of many of their units, courtesy of our resident artificer-grade painting servitors. If you’ve been looking to start (or finally paint) an Adeptus Mechanicus collection hailing from Metalica, this issue is a must-read.
For our third and final choice, we’re heading into the depths of the Warhammer Underworlds.
Glory Points
In the recent Warhammer Preview Online – Lords of the Mortal Realms, we revealed that a dedicated Starter Set for Warhammer Underworlds is on its way soon, aimed at total beginners. If you’re looking to introduce your friends or family to the game or you want to try it out for yourself, this boxed set is a great way to do so.
With that in mind, Dave Sanders, the brains behind Warhammer Underworlds, is offering some further guidance on how to get started – and where to go next – in his regular column.
Give Glory Points in April’s issue a read, and you’ll be ready to begin your adventures into Warhammer Underworlds in no time.
All that and we didn’t even mention the ’Eavy Metal Masterclass on non-metallic metals or the ever-popular Golden Demon Winners Challenge. Fear not, though, painting fans – we’ll be showcasing these articles in greater detail over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for them on Warhammer Community soon. You can pre-order issue 463 from Saturday the 10th of April. If you don’t want to worry about the magazine’s release date each month, grab yourself a subscription, and it will be sent directly to your doorstep as if hurled by the God-King Sigmar himself.
