Hedkrakka’s Madmob is available to pre-order from Saturday, so we’re showing off ALL of the cards that come with the latest Direchasm warband and focusing on a few of our favourites.
As we saw in our recent chat with Warhammer Underworlds’ lead designer Dave Sanders, Hedkrakka’s Madmob is a flexible warband, capable of dishing out damage, casting spells, or jumping onto objectives. They were also brought to Beastgrave thanks to a talking snake, but nobody’s perfect.
Hedkrakka, Gob of Gork
The leader and wizard of the warband. While he can pick off opposing fighters at range, his Bone Krusha spell Attack is even deadlier when he’s adjacent to his target. Don’t risk putting Hedkrakka in any danger too early, though, as you need him to Inspire your fighters thanks to a similar mechanic to the one used by Thundrik’s Profiteers.
Wollop da Skul
The brutal one in the warband. His Leveller ability makes him great at hunting down hardier fighters, such as those found in Morgok’s Krushas or the eponymous ogor from Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers.
Toofdagga
The kunnin’ one in the warband. Clever use of his Tireless Trackers special rule can give a nasty surprise to enemy leaders by unexpectedly putting them into the range of attacks. Take out the leaders from warbands like the Starblood Stalkers and Morwaeth’s Blade-coven in turn one, and you put yourself in prime position for victory.
Dakko Sharp-Stikka
Combined with Toofdagga’s Tireless Trackers rules, Lotsa Arrers means that Dakko can sneak into range and fire twice in the first turn for the cost of a single activation. Now that’s brutal AND kunnin’ (or kunnin’ AND brutal). Working out when to hang back with Dakko to use his ranged attack and when to storm forward to grab an objective in enemy territory to use Primal Tracker is the key to getting the most out of this fighter.
Cards for Krakkin’ Heds
Normally, we wouldn’t advise you to take advice from snakes, but it seems to be working so far for Hedkrakka, so who are we to argue? With Primal Surge and Primal Tracker, you have more options than most warbands to claim the Primacy token.* Then with clever movement, you can do exactly what the snake tells you.
You can take advantage of holding the Primacy token with Eye of Gorkamorka. Simply pop Hedkrakka on an objective and claim yourself an easy glory point. It could be just what you need to get the glory train rolling.
As we’ve seen from those two objective cards, Hedkrakka’s Madmob is a warband that likes to have the Primacy token. Many of their ploys also revolve around it, including Primal Power, which you can use to improve your chances of casting spells.
As a universal card, any warband containing a wizard can take advantage of Primal Power. Those that can claim that elusive Primacy token relatively easily, such as Myari’s Purifiers or the Starblood Stalkers, will find it especially useful.
Those are just a few of our favourite cards, but take a look at the full set that comes with Direchasm’s newest warband.
Hedkrakka’s Madmob is available to pre-order from Saturday, so you only have a few days to practice speaking snake before the orruks are unleashed. If you need any help with your cobra conjugation or python pronunciation, join us over on the Warhammer Underworlds Facebook page.
* You can usually claim it by taking an enemy fighter with no wounds out of action with an Attack, taking an enemy leader out of action with an Attack, or by holding four or more objectives after an activation.
