Welcome back to the Battle Sister Bulletin, our regular series of articles looking at a whole reliquary’s worth of new releases for the Adepta Sororitas. Following the reveal of their full new range in last week’s Warhammer Fest Online, we’re taking a closer look at the zealous young warrior who’s leading them into the maelstrom of the Indomitus Crusade.
Morvenn Vahl is one of the youngest Battle Sisters to ever occupy the position of Abbess Sanctorum, the supreme commander of the Adepta Sororitas. Chosen by the Ecclesiarch in the vain hope of securing a malleable and inexperienced pawn, Vahl instead took to her appointment with the faith and zeal that had served her well in the Celestant order.
While many would have welcomed the comfort and safety the position allowed, she instead spent little time establishing her authority before leaving for the front lines once again. Ever a warrior first and administrator second, Vahl strides the battlefields of the 41st Millennium clad in Purgator Mirabilis, the finest warsuit of its kind and an ancient relic restored to glory by the Fabricator General of Mars himself.
While all Paragon Warsuits (which you may remember seeing in January’s Warhammer Preview Online) afford their wearer unparalleled protection among the Adepta Sororitas’ infantry, Purgator Mirabilis is as far removed from them as Astartes power armour is from a common flak jacket. Powerful energy fields blunt attacks even before they can reach the thick adamantine plate, turning aside blows that would cripple even the Emperor’s Angels of Death.
The suit itself plays host to a destructive missile launcher of the sort usually found only on much larger vehicles, while the Abbess strikes down her enemies with a gigantic relic power spear named the Lance of Illumination.
Despite her preference for getting stuck into the fiercest fights around, Morvenn Vahl is every bit the taciturn commander her position demands. Her fellow Battle Sisters rally around the glorious golden figure of her warsuit and fight with superhuman ferocity, knowing that their supreme commander is every bit as ready to lay down her life for the God-Emperor as they are.
That’s all we have time for today, but the Battle Sister Bulletin will be back in two weeks for another look at the upcoming Adepta Sororitas. We’ve heard it has something to do with hymns, so you might want to get a bit of vocal practice in.
