It seems like only yesterday that we were announcing the groundbreaking arrival of a Warhammer 40,000 comic, doesn’t it? Well, since you’re loving the tales of Marneus Calgar so much, we couldn’t just stop there.
Games Workshop and Marvel Comics are once again teaming up to bring you another stunning look into the grim, dark future of Warhammer 40,000. Following on the success of last year's Warhammer 40,000: Marneus Calgar comic series, Marvel Comics is releasing Warhammer 40,000: Sisters of Battle #1 on August 18th.
Written by Torunn Grønbekk (The Mighty Valkyries) and with art by Edgar Salazar (Uncanny X-Men), the series follows a squad of Battle Sisters as they fight to retrieve a lost Inquisitorial acolyte on planet Siscia and put down a heretical uprising for good measure.
All is not as it seems. It should be a smash-and-grab operation, but forces hidden deep beneath the planet’s surface threaten to throw the mission into Chaos. Soon Canoness Veridyan finds herself leading her Battle Sisters in a furious fight to survive and discover Siscia’s secrets.
We can’t say much more about what’s going to happen, but we can pore over these three pages of exclusive artwork from the series for clues.
Huge bolters – check. Explosions – check. And there’s an angry Astra Militarum Sentinel for good measure. We can’t wait for the first issue of Marvel’s Sisters of Battle comic series to arrive on August 18th.
