This Colourful, Kitbashed Seraphon Army is Led by the Most Incredible Kroak Centrepiece

When we saw this incredible Seraphon army, we knew we had to share it with you. Without further ado, let’s hand over to Brad to talk all about his remarkable conversions.

Brad: Greetings, fellow painters. My name is Brad Glover, and today I’m talking about my latest converted army – my Seraphon. Anyone who has seen any of my troops will know that I heavily convert and kitbash every miniature, and I love to use a bright, garish colour scheme to make it stand out and be as unique as possible.

I enjoy taking a concept and dialling it up to 11, smashing together as many different kits as it takes to fulfil my vision. My armies may not be to everyone’s tastes, but I sure do love making them.

The idea for my Seraphon army came when I was thinking of a new army to start for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Seraphon were one of my first armies, so I wanted to give them another go after all this time. But how would I convert them?

I came up with the idea of really exaggerating their technology, as seen on the Slann Mage-Priest’s throne and the Bastiladon Solar Engine. What other high-tech weaponry could they have?

For inspiration, I turned to the Warhammer 40,000 Necrons range. The aesthetics of these two ranges are remarkably similar, so they’re perfect for converting. From there, I worked out how to make all kinds of mechanised walkers and constructs to represent different units in the Seraphon army.

I also converted some Blood Bowl Saurus and Skinks, making sure to equip them with more armour and fancy weapons to fit in with the rest of the force.

For the armour’s colour scheme, I decided to try non-metallic gold – a technique I’d never used before. It was pretty intimidating at first, but this technique really helped me double down on my cartoonish painting style once I got the hang of it. It may not look super realistic, but that wasn’t really what I was going for.

For the rest of each miniature, I tried to cram in as many different colours as possible to attract the eye as much as I could.

The latest addition to my army is the incredible Lord Kroak model. This miniature was truly a blast to convert and paint. I wanted to get across that he is the man (well, frog) in charge, so he towers over every other unit in my army – and probably my opponents’ armies too.

I converted Kroak by expanding out his throne, mainly using parts from the Silent King kit. Like my other slann, I made Kroak so that he could be mounted on my converted Realmshaper Engine, making him quite the centrepiece for my army.
