After introducing a wealth of fantastic changes to Warhammer Age of Sigmar in its third edition, you might think that the game’s rules wranglers would take a little break. Never ones to rest on their laurels, those good folks have actually been hard at work on a series of battletome updates, which will be featured in the hallowed pages of White Dwarf.
These new rules are official updates that can be used alongside your battletomes, and they bring a range of flavourful ways to use your army, whether you like open, narrative, or matched play.
The Sons of Behemat are the beneficiaries of the inaugural battletome update in White Dwarf 467, so let’s take a look at how they’ll be stomping over the Mortal Realms soon.
Battletome: Sons of Behemat Update
All-new battle tactics and grand strategies mean that your Mega-Gargants now have even more ways to earn victory points by doing the things they love the most – punting objectives and hurling little men, women, skaven, and even daemons around.
In this battletome update, you’ll also find two faction-specific core battalions that give you novel ways to build armies. Ever wanted to mount a surprise charge with a unit of Mancrushers? Check out the Footsloggas core battalion, which makes your gargants super swift. What about giving two Mega-Gargants artefacts? Well, now you can do just that with Bosses of the Stomp.
If narrative play is your thing, you’ll love the bumper Path to Glory section in the battletome update – it includes everything from picking your warlord to allocating lingering wounds. There are also rules to explain how towering brutes who rampage across the realms destroying everything in their wake assign value to territories – spoiler alert, it’s food-related.
These battletome updates offer fresh ways to play your favourite factions, so make sure you get your hands on White Dwarf to bring them up to speed with the new edition.
As if all of those new rules in the Sons of Behemat battletome update weren’t enough, The Tome Celestial features a mini-campaign called The Stomping of Matah, which lets you play through the story of aelven Seaport Matah. This exciting chain of missions pits a host of marauding gargants against a Lumineth Realm-lords garrison, with a brand new battleplan to cover the thrilling conclusion.
Finally, there’s also a whole grab-bag of lore that tracks what these towering and surprisingly enterprising brutes have been up to during the Era of the Beast. Check it out to discover the history of the gargants, including the tragic tale of Behemat himself.
