The incredible new subscription service Warhammer+ launches next week. Along with new painting masterclasses, lore shows, and the Warhammer Vault, you’ll get access to a stunning array of exclusive animated content. As well as the anthology series Hammer and Bolter,* you can watch the action-packed Angels of Death – featuring the Blood Angels facing down a monstrous Genestealer Cult.**
If you can’t quite stand the excitement as we build up to the launch of Warhammer+, we have a few suggestions of Black Library books you can read to help you get even more out of Angels of Death. What could be better than spending the next few days reading all about the Blood Angels and Genestealer Cults to get an insight into the stars of the new series?
Fear to Tread
Set during the Horus Heresy, Fear to Tread sees the Blood Angels’ Primarch Sanguinius desperately seeking solutions to the Red Thirst afflicting his Legion. After hearing about a lead on the planet Signus Prime, the Blood Angels are forced to face both their personal demons and more literal ones.
Read it to get an insight into the Blood Angels’ best-kept secret.
Cult of the Spiral Dawn
The insidious Genestealer Cults have infected countless worlds across the Imperium. Cult of the Spiral Dawn focuses on one of these insurrections, showing the dire consequences that befall any planet unlucky enough to encounter this xenos menace.
Read it to gain an understanding of who the Genestealer Cults are and how they operate.
Sons of Sanguinius
The Sons of Sanguinius anthology includes a range of stories featuring the Blood Angels and their successor Chapters waging war across the Imperium. With more than 20 tales from some of the Black Library’s finest writers, this omnibus will give you a feel for how the Blood Angels operate.
Read it to follow some of the Blood Angels’ most famous heroes, such as Dante and Mephiston, into battle.
Death of Integrity
Death of Integrity follows the Blood Drinkers, a renegade Blood Angels successor Chapter, as they take on a Space Hulk full of Genestealers. Guy Haley’s Space Marines Battles novel is quite rightly in the Black Library Hall of Fame.
Read it to see how the sons of Sangiunius’ bloodlust can sometimes threaten to snatch victory away.
Sin of Damnation
Speaking of Blood Angels, Genestealers, and Space Hulks – Sin of Damnation is the original classic. When the Blood Angels first met the Genestealers aboard this legendary spacecraft, it did not go well. Can a new generation of battle brothers fare any better?
Read it to follow the Blood Angels as they try to avenge 600 years of the shame of failure.
