Warhammer+ has been with us for exactly one week, and it’s safe to say that you’ve been enjoying it. Landing with a ton of great content, including a bundle of original animations, two gripping Battle Reports, and the last word on painting faces with a Citadel Painting Masterclass, we thought it would be fun to inveigle our way into the Warhammer+ bunker to find out what you’ve been watching.
Drumroll please.
Surprising no-one, the Astartes prevail. The most popular show on Warhammer+ this week was Angels of Death, the tense CGI tale of Blood Angels battling to rescue their captain from a planet in flames.
This is followed by the first two episodes of Hammer and Bolter, which follow an Inquisitor going to great lengths to cheat his fate and a humble librarian who makes a dark discovery.
In at number four is the inaugural Warhammer 40,000 Battle Report, a 2,000-point throwdown between the Ultramarines and the Necrons featuring an indecent amount of rapid fire…
And at five, we’ve got a Masterclass on how to paint every single tiny detail on faces perfectly. This is one of the hardest skills to master, but Louise breaks it all down so nicely and simply that you’ll all be picking out perfect pupils in no time.
Orruk or assassin?
While we were dodging guard servitors and cyber mastiffs on our little reconnoitre, we stumbled across the answer to an age-old question* – who would win between an Orruk Megaboss and a Vindicare Assassin?
Our subscribers helped out here: once everyone had picked their choice of this year’s exclusive free miniatures, we had a clear winner.
Given that one is a far-future super-soldier cybernetically augmented to one-shot almost any target in the galaxy, while the other is an (admittedly huge) orruk with a very sharp axe, the result comes as no surprise. In all, 75% of you plumped for the assassin. Warhammer+ members who remain subscribed for 12 consecutive months will get an email explaining how to claim their miniature of choice, but you don't need to stick with just one of them – you'll get the option to buy the second model as well.
Whichever model you choose, however, one perk is certain – the free £10 voucher available to everyone who subscribes for a second month.
So if you’ve not subscribed already, now is a pretty good time to pull the trigger – especially as the 31st of August is the last day you’ll be able to qualify for that voucher. Don’t miss out! And remember, there’ll be more exclusive offers for loyal subscribers in future.
This is just the beginning for Warhammer+. The second episode of Angels of Death is out tomorrow, and mayhem ensues as the Blood Angels make planetfall on the hunt for their captain, alongside an all-new Battle Report and Masterclass on painting black armour.***
More lore meanwhile enters the Warhammer Vault, including additional back issues of White Dwarf. Check back each and every Wednesday for further drops.
* An age of at least eight weeks, since the Warhammer+ rewards were first revealed…
** At which point it’ll be gone for good, presumably domed by a turbo-penetrator round.
*** Spoiler alert – you don’t just use black.
