To celebrate Episode Two of Angels of Death, we’re giving away some gorgeous wallpapers so you can admire the art and design of this gripping Blood Angels saga. Our warriors are trapped in orbit over the planet Niades as their strike cruiser the Sword of Baal is becalmed by warp storms, while their Captain is missing on the surface.
In the first episode, we see Captain Orpheo battling Genestealers, Sergeant Kazarion haunted by the Black Rage, and the planetary authorities hiding something from Ship Mistress Solken.
The second episode – The Silent City – is out today, and ratchets the tension up as the Blood Angels make planetfall. Stop what you’re doing and watch it right now.
Rendered in beautiful, high-contrast black and white, this chiaroscuro** imagery features splashes of deep crimson, to show how the Blood Angels battle the Black Rage in every scene.
As eight-foot post-human warriors, Space Marines already stand out, but this art style really hammers home how otherworldly they feel.It also makes them look really cool, as you can see in the first of these four impressive wallpapers.
You’ll also be able to pick your favourite character with these three wallpapers for mobile, featuring the stern Chaplain Rafael and his eerie skull-helm.
Next up is Kazarion, the Blood Angels Sergeant recently returned from a stint with the Deathwatch. Despite his combat prowess, he’s wracked with fear of failure – and of succumbing to the gene-curse of the Black Rage.
Finally, there’s Ancaeus, a Sergeant whose loyalty lies with the mission. He’ll stop at nothing to protect his battle-brothers and defend the Imperium, which causes him to clash with Kazarion – but whose side are you on?
The keen-eyed among you may notice some interesting little details on these Blood Angels. If you want to know more, you’ll have to subscribe to Warhammer+ so you can follow the trails of Kazarion and Ancaeus.
As we mentioned earlier, Angels of Death isn’t the only new addition this week. Subscribers to Warhammer+ will also be able to watch a brand new episode of Battle Report, which sees a force of Blood Angels face off against a horde of Orks, who also had some snazzy wallpapers released recently.
There’s also a new Citadel Colour Masterclass, and new additions to the Warhammer Vault – a digital repository of past publications for you to pore over, including more than a year's worth of White Dwarf issues. It’s enough to make an Imperial Adept squeal with delight.***
Everything you need to know about this week’s release is also available right here.
And with that, let us know who your pick of the wallpapers is– and why it’s Rafael – on the Warhammer TV Facebook Page and the official Warhammer Community Twitter. Make sure you’re subscribed to Warhammer+ so you don’t miss a single Angels of Death episode.
*Once you’ve been a Warhammer+ subscriber for 12 consecutive months, you'll get an email explaining how to claim your miniature.
**A fancy term for the use of light and dark in Renaissance painting – fitting for the baroque Blood Angels.
*** If you’ve watched the creepy new Hammer and Bolter episode Bound For Glory, you’ll know that talking, and thus squealing, is most certainly not allowed.
