We’ve seen some of the dark mysteries that await any warband brave (or foolish) enough to enter the murky depths of Harrowdeep, the setting for the new season of Warhammer Underworlds. But who are Xandire’s Truthseekers and Da Kunnin’ Krew, the first two groups to seek out this dank and dark place?
Xandire’s Truthseekers
When your boss taps you on the shoulder and tells you they have an “opportunity” for you, it’s never good news. Now, imagine that your boss was Sigmar, the God-King himself. He dispatched Xandire’s Truthseekeers to investigate ships that regularly disappear after leaving the port of Misthåven in the realm of Ulgu. The Stormcast Eternals soon chanced upon a cursed whirlpool that led them to Harrowdeep, a shadowy labyrinth beneath the floor of the Shadowsea.
Fortunately, Xandire carries the Lantern Astrala, a relic of Azyr with which she can illuminate the gloom.* Accompanying her is Dhoraz Giant-fell, a former chieftain of Ghur. The boar on his armour isn’t just for show – he’s an absolute beast with that hammer. Rounding out the warband is Luxa Stormrider. With her aetherwing providing eyesight in the gloom, nothing can hide from her deadly bow.
Da Kunnin’ Krew
Da Kunnin’ Krew find themselves in Harrowdeep after chasing a bog wyrm through the lakes of the Misted Isles, following it through a drain of swamp-muck on their crude raft. Unlike most visitors to Harrowdeep, they’ve found the caverns much to their liking, so they’re trying to find their way out to round up the rest of their boyz and make it into a proper Kruleboyz lair.
This vicious group is led by Mannok da Kunnin’, who came up with the warband name himself.** He’s quite happy to use his whip on his own boyz should they need any extra encouragement. Gitsnatcha Torka Tuffskul follows him into battle, rounding up any unwary victims with his mansnappa. Rounding out the warband is Krookgrin the Hobgrot, more interested in grabbing any loot for himself, and the two grots Gikkit and Shank, who are normally used (unwittingly) as bait, but who are quite capable of stabbing someone in the knee if they’re not looking.
Warhammer Underworlds: Harrowdeep is right around the corner, and it includes both Xandire’s Truthseekers and Da Kunnin’ Krew. You can get ready for the new season of Warhammer Underworlds by reading all about the big rules changes and the new Rivals format.
* It’s a sensible idea since torch batteries are impossible to find in Ulgu.
** Other options discarded included Da Brutal Bunch.
