It’s Warhammer+ Wednesday, and a mighty special one too as we rejoin the beleaguered Blood Angels of the Sword of Baal in what may be their darkest hour. What’s more, there’s plenty joining the eagerly awaited return of Angels of Death on Warhammer+ today.
If, like us, you’ve been watching each episode of Angels of Death as soon as it comes out, you may need a quick refresher on where our favourite Blood Angels are right now. Spoilers are ahead, so avert your eyes if you haven’t seen the first five incredible episodes yet.
We left Angels of Death with a flashback to events preceding Episode 1, with the Sword of Baal summoned back to Baal at the height of a vast space battle against a Tyranid hive fleet.
Disruptions in the warp throw them far off course, and those few Space Marines who survive are lured to – and end up stranded above – a mysteriously quiet world. When Captain Orpheo and his elite Terminator guard go missing while investigating an urgent transmission from the surface, Sergeants Ancaeus and Kazarion rally their men to search for them.
Counseled by the veteran Chaplain Rafael, their differences are put aside as a Drop Pod insertion goes awry and plunges half the Space Marines into an ambush by perfidious Genestealer Cultists.
Meanwhile, the Sword of Baal comes under sudden attack from ships ringing the orbital station. With their docking clamps jammed, the Strike Cruiser can’t escape, and a desperate defence against a xenos boarding action grips the ship.
As fighting rages in space and on the surface, disaster strikes as an ambush inside the city’s tunnels claims several Space Marine lives. With the creeping madness of the Black Rage inching ever closer, the remaining Blood Angels are hard-pressed to break free.
Things are looking dire for our heroes as we begin Episode 6, but at least those who watched our recent Warhammer Preview Online know that the unflappable Techmarine Hadrael is on the case. Will Ancaeus and Kazarion push onwards and find their Captain? You’ll have to watch Angels of Death to find out.
As that furious battle continues, another plays out in Battle Report as the Craftworlds Aeldari clash with their Drukhari kin. This lightning-fast conflict pits some of the 41st Millennium’s most skilled and wily fighters against one another in a tabletop throwdown for the ages.
The first-ever episode of Citadel Colour Masterclass showed you how to get the best results out of models with lighter skin, and now Louise Sugden dives into darker skin tones to round out your skills.
The Warhammer Vault throws open the gates on yet more White Dwarf issues from yesteryear, as well as the lore from an epic clash between the T’au Empire and the Imperium of Man. And with a new T’au Empire codex coming in the early stages of 2022, this is the perfect time to catch up on what they’ve been up to as the Great Rift tears across the galaxy.
