It’s Battleforce Day! We’re unveiling the latest collection of special boxed sets that will only be available over the Christmas season, and this year there are no fewer than six to choose from. Each battleforce is packed with a selection of units for a festive price, perfect for starting a new army or expanding your existing force.
With our annual New Year, New Army challenge* creeping closer, it’s a phenomenal opportunity to lay the groundwork on your next hobby project. And since these battleforces will be arriving in December, they’re perfect candidates for any Warhammer+ vouchers you’ve been earning this month.
Whenever Space Marines go to war, they strike hard and fast, and the Shieldbreaker Strike Force is set up to do just that. With enough Troops to hold down objectives, an elite cadre of veterans can focus on bringing down their toughest foes in bloody close combat.
In this box, a Captain and his entourage of Bladeguard Veterans lead a balanced heavy infantry force of 10 Intercessors, 10 Assault Intercessors, and five Heavy Intercessors. Meanwhile, a fast and agile Storm Speeder Hailstrike is perfect for flanking enemy forces, or taking down hard targets when built either as the Hammerstrike or Thunderstrike variant.
A Purgatos Mission is formed to smash aside determined resistance with an armoured spearhead of heavy assault troops and rocket artillery. When the mailed fist of the Adepta Sororitas is done punching through enemy lines, seasoned Battle Sisters bring up the rear to clear out what remains of any unlucky survivors.
The fierce eyes of a Sister Dogmata command this force, which is composed of five Celestian Sacresants, 10 Battle Sisters, an Immolator armed transport, and a mighty Exorcist tank.
When valuable archaeotech is discovered and the Adeptus Mechanicus needs to secure it quickly, it dispatches the Omnissiah’s Talon, made up of fast-moving forces hand-picked from the Skitarii legions to reach their target quickly and destroy any interlopers who might have designs on the rare technology.
Five speedy Pteraxii, five stealthy Ruststalkers, and three Serberys Raiders make up the core of this battleforce, supported by the Ironstrider Ballistarii’s powerful cognis lascannons. Behind them marches a unit of 10 Skitarii Rangers and their Tech-priest Manipulus commander, ready to examine whatever it is that the Talon has recovered.
None can stay the inexorable advance of the Death Guard, blessed with daemonic durability by Grandfather Nurgle. Whether it’s with armoured boots or grinding tracks, they crush anyone brave enough to stand against them, before unleashing a festering storm of firepower from filth-encrusted weapons.
The Plaguefester Warband is the definitive image of an unstoppable Death Guard army, with a Champion and Icon Bearer leading seven Plague Marines and three Deathshroud Terminators. Three Myphitic Blight-haulers and a Plagueburst Crawler cover their march, crushing resistance with the hellish firepower these war engines are feared for.
While it can take some time for a Necron force to rise from their tombs, once an Overlord has full control of their armies they’re quickly set to carry out their leader’s whims. The Worldscour Legion, as the name suggests, specialises in the utter destruction of all life, and it has just the tools needed to do it.
A Psychomancer cryptek leads the force, with a unit of 10 Necron Warriors and three Scarab Swarms making up the durable centre. The real killing work falls to a Lokhust Heavy Destroyer, three Ophydian Destroyers, five Flayed Ones, and two huge Canoptek Doomstalkers. Many of these units recently received the CORE keyword as part of the Balance Dataslate, and enjoy a new lease of life**.
Orks know what they like, and they like fighting. Anything that makes them faster, shootier, or choppier is fair game, and the Killdakka Warband is made up of all sorts of Boyz armed with whatever they can find to krump their foes with.
While five Nobz, 20 Boyz, and 10 unfortunate Gretchin (with their long-suffering Runtherd handler) storm across the battlefield in search of heads to split, Da Boss speeds into combat aboard his Deffkilla Wartrike. A Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun has a jolly old time teleporting Snotlings into people from behind the front line, while a Dakkajet screams overhead to strike enemy forces.
All six of these battleforces are coming this December, so stay tuned to Warhammer Community for more details.
* Which is going to be a little different this year – stay tuned for more information.
