It’s Warhammer+ Wednesday, and you know what that means – yet more great animations, shows, and lore for you to pore over. You may notice there’s been a change to today’s releases, but rest assured that Citadel Colour Masterclass will be on its way soon, and you can still get stuck into our long, hard look at the Daemon Primarch Mortarion, and of course the pivotal ninth episode of Angels of Death for lashings of Dreadnought-on-Genestealer action.
With Mont’ka – which covers the T’au and Imperial war for the Damocles Gulf – and another slew of White Dwarf back issues joining the Warhammer Vault today, the service is now home to well over 100 classic publications.
And with all that to choose from, it’s high time we took a look back through the Vault to find some of our favourite entries.
As heartbreaking as the destruction of Cadia was at the height of Abaddon’s 13th Black Crusade, the epic tale of its defence stands as one of the 41st Millennium’s finest stories. You can read all about how the planet broke before the Guard did in Gathering Storm I: The Fall of Cadia and continue with the rest of the trilogy.
Less than two years after Warhammer Age of Sigmar burst onto the scene, the skyfaring duardin profiteers descended from the clouds and changed the landscape of the Mortal Realms forever. April 2017’s White Dwarf featured a huge spread on the newcomers and was many hobbyists’ first glance into the world of the Kharadron Overlords – a totally new faction at the time.
The Space Wolves are really high on our list of people to not mess with, but the Thousand Sons did that and more when they summoned a massive daemonic invasion to Fenris. This war almost spelled the end for the Space Wolves’ home world, and you can access both Wrath of Magnus and Curse of the Wulfen now with Warhammer+.
The early days of Warhammer Age of Sigmar told the story of Sigmar’s grand plan for the Mortal Realms, unleashing his Stormcast Eternals on the world to force Chaos back from its conquered lands. The Realmgate Wars series began with the quest to retrieve Ghal Maraz, and it was an invaluable guide to the realms for players still reeling from the shocking End Times series.
2017 also saw a total reinvention of Necromunda. The Necromunda: Underhive boxed set introduced a new generation of hobbyists to the down-and-dirty gang warfare we all know and love, and White Dwarf was there in November to start a ruckus of their own.
While the Warhammer Vault contains oodles of lore on every part of the Warhammer worlds you could imagine, it’s not all that’s in there. The Warhammer Age of Sigmar Painting Guide is packed full of tutorials useful for hobbyists of all stripes, and it pairs excellently with the Citadel Colour Masterclass series on Warhammer+ to turbo-charge your painting game.
As well as all of the lore packed into the Warhammer Vault, today’s releases include the next episode of Loremasters – who’re getting to know the Daemon Primarch Mortarion* – alongside the penultimate chapter of Angels of Death.
