We’ve been learning all about the many dragons of Warhammer this week, and it’s now time for the main event – a closer look at the ones we’re all here to see. The Draconith are finally taking flight in Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and their models are things of beauty.
Krondys, Son of Dracothion, can also be built as his brother Karazai the Scarred, and the models are packed with detail. With intricate patterns of scales and membranous wings, they both have the mark of the twin-tailed comet on their chests, while Karazai’s deep scars are fully sculpted across his head and neck.
The base is also covered in fallen sigmarite masonry. The iconography of Azyr continues on Krondys’ golden armour, which advanced modellers who choose to build Karazai will treasure as a great resource for conversions. Your mercenary Mega-Gargant, for instance, will love them.
It’s easy to see how they gave Kragnos a run for his money, as they tower above their fellow Azyrites. The lesser Draconith ridden by the Stormdrake Guard may be smaller than their princes, but they’re still big enough to support a fully armoured warrior.
The Stormdrake Guard use a variety of weapons, and each has the option of equipping a drakerider’s lance or warblade.
Know what makes a sword even better? Being on fire. Build one of your Stormdrake Guard as a Knight-Draconis and his aeonfire blade will cut a striking figure on the battlefield.
As you might expect from a leader of such prestige, the Knight-Draconis has even more fantastic battle panoply than his comrades, with an intricate scale-patterned cloak and majestic helmet marking him out as a worthy champion of Sigmar.
These dragons look incredible when jazzed up by some of the community’s best painters. Check back in tomorrow for a gallery packed full of expert-painted Krondys and Karazai in all of their scaly glory.
