The first US Open Series is over, and you can read all about it here. Ever since it finished, we’ve been poring over the pics of all the incredible armies who came to battle. Tournaments are about much more than competitive gaming, and the quality of painting and modeling across the tournaments in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas was very high.
We’ve collected some of our faves below, but just know that it was extremely difficult to whittle the selection down.
The Chaotic mutations in this Nurgle-blessed T’au army are repulsively delightful.
Yellow armies always look stunning, but just look at this incredible display board. All those checked patterns… These Lamenters must have taken ages.
Talking of striking colours, this Lumineth Realm-Lords army in blazing reds and oranges is particularly eye-catching.
Mega-Gargants are very rewarding to paint to a high standard, since there are so few in an army. The green glow on this giant miniature really blew us away.
Everyone loves a well-done Rainbow Warriors army. Look at those smooth blends.
Don’t have much space? Build a tower! These Grey Knights looked great on the table, too.
A little festive spirit makes for a truly amazing theme for this Disciples of Tzeentch army.
Spending a little extra time on a centrepiece model elevates an entire collection. This Avalenor is resplendent in pinks and blues.
The almost creamy golden armour on these Knights looks amazing, and all the freehand check patterns take it over the top. You could spot this army clear across the gaming hall.
The character of a cohesive army like these Sylvaneth is enhanced with this matching display board.
This display, combined with incredible painting technique and bold colours, left a strong impression.
You know a Death Guard army is a good one when there’s a puddle of ooze in the middle of the display tray. The use of the ice blue spot colour on these models adds a lot of visual interest.
These Idoneth Deepkin are truly beautiful, whether you’re across the table or right up close.
We want to thank everyone who brought their A-game to the US Open Series. It was an unmitigated success, and a wonderful way to get back into gaming after the extended absence. We can’t wait to see what you all bring to AdeptiCon in March.
The tournaments were such a success, we’re excited to tell you all about the next one. That’s right, the US Open series 2022 is already in the works, and it promises to be even bigger and better. We’ll let you know when we can share more details. In the meantime, sign up to our newsletter to get all the latest news delivered to your devices.
