One of the best things about sharing work from the Warhammer hobby community is getting to wade through a veritable ocean of awesome armies. There’s so much great stuff out there, it’s hard to choose what to show you.
Sometimes a collection rises to the top and we simply must feature it – such is the case with Lee Godden’s absolutely incredible Imperial Knights.
We asked Lee what inspired this unique project, and he unleashed a tidal wave of lovingly-conceived background material. Sit down with something warm and get ready to spend some time poring over these images.
Lee: The Court of The Fisher King was a two-year labour of love for me. I wanted each and every Imperial Knight in the force to be a unique hero full of conversions and quirks, and their character very much comes from the world I created for them.
The Knights hail from an oceanic death world known as Corbenic, and the population lives on titanic artificial structures which sit above tumultuous seas.
The Imperial Knights have protected Corbenic since before the Age of the Imperium, patrolling the oceans and shorelines, as well as assisting in specialist mining operations. They take part in ritualistic hunts to slay massive predatory creatures which stalk the depths.
I’ve modelled all the pilots for the Imperial Knights in the Court of the Fisher King, adding to the backstory and character of each one. I even made art cards to use when they’re on display!
Talking of display, if they look familiar, that’s because you might have caught them in the cases at Warhammer World up until quite recently. Guest displays like this one are just another reason to book a visit today.
Lee: To support my Knight house, I also produced a small Adeptus Mechanicus force led by Sacristan Nautolex – these briny cyborgs are also aquatic in nature and are known as Skitarii Aquis.
I’m extremely happy with the overall look and feel of the completed army. With it done, I’m looking forward to working on another heavily themed force – a herd of Troggoths for Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
The time and energy Lee has poured into this project is staggering, and has clearly paid off. Why not pick up an Imperial Knight or some Armiger Warglaives and see what you can come up with?
