Christmas is over and the new year looms. Here at Warhammer Community, we’re looking back on all the painting and kitbashing we got up to this year as we plan out our new projects.* Let's just say those Eldritch Omens and Fury of the Deep Battleboxes are looking appealing.
One of the best parts of Warhanmmer is getting to share your work with the worldwide community, which is full of inspiring hobbyists and awesome people. We put a call out on Twitter to see some of your best work, and gosh, did you ever deliver!
We got hundreds of replies, so many that we can't share them all, but here are just a few of the brilliant projects that caught our eye.
Chrissie Orton
We loved Chrissie’s take on Lady Annika, especially with glow-in-the-dark elements, which add another layer to this two-faced model.
Doug Cameron
When you need Xenos clearing out, you call the Deathwatch. We would love to know what fiends Doug has been battling – his Gravis-armoured Heavy Intercessor Deathwatch squad seem to have been up against a genuinely terrifying foe.
Garfy
It was no surprise that Stormcast Eternals featured heavily, after a host of lovely new models and a stellar new battletome this year. Garfy stunned us all with his luminous take on Bastian Carthalos, Sigmar's number-one hammer man.
Jamie Dodd
From one hero to another, Jamie's Captain Uriel Ventris is a resplendent example of one of the Ultramarines' boldest warriors. If this is what breaking the codex looks like, we’re all for it.
Jessica Smart
Jessica’s take on Lauka Vai, Mother of Nightmares, is as elegant as it is creepy, making great use of splashes of crimson blood.
Joshua Hill
Dragons are suddenly all the rage – and fire, and fury – and they're absolutely cracking centrepiece models. Joshua's Karazai is box-art fresh, and incredibly fearsome.
Krzysztof Pisarski
While many people tackled massive, god-sized models this year, others created mini masterpieces, such as Krzysztof’s superb emerald metallic Stormcast Eternal Vindictor.
Lee Marshall
Lee went big this year, sending us a cohort of Warmaster Titans from Adeptus Titanicus.
Martin Orlando
Another fancy Aelf! This time from Martin, who has converted and painted up an absolute storm with theis Lumineth Realm-lord. Teclis himself would be proud.
Meg Harkness
Everyone loves a big frog, the best of all the aquatic-aligned animals.** Meg’s Lord Kroak is a fantastically vibrant version of this updated classic.
Nikki Sullivan
It would feel remiss to conduct a community round-up of the year in miniatures and not include the most fabulous characters in Warhammer. Luckily Nikki came to the rescue with her take of gleaming Geld-Prince, Sigvald the Magnificent.
Sami Uusitalo
Dioramas are a huge part of the hobby that we enormously enjoy, which is why we host Armies on Parade every year. Sami decided to condense that energy into this fire-lit tableau, featuring the father-and-daughter duo Galen and Doralia ven Denst and a treacherous Knight of Shrouds.
Sascha Herm
Sascha has made us fall in love with the Beastboss all over again, who is covered with lots of beautiful textures and powerful colours that never feel like they clash. We'd let this lad lead our Waaagh! any day.
Vincent Knotley
Our tireless Twitch moderator Vincent Knotley is a star in the community, and he's given us a dazzling twofer here with the Blade Champion – in green, no less – and the Reductus Saboteur, headliners of the brand new Shadow Throne battlebox.
Xavier Tremblay
Speaking of headliners, what better way to round out this amazing display of hobbying talent than with Xavier’s splendid version of Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear, who is as fierce as can be.
To everyone that sent stuff in – we loved your work, and we're sorry we couldn't feature everything!
Spied your favourite miniature from the year in the above entries? Surprised not to see it? Why not vote for your choice in the Miniature of the Year poll – don't let your favourite get left behind.
* Got an idea for a new project? Why not participate in next year's Armies on Parade which has a slate of events all year round!
** Duinclaw, of Elathain's Soulraid fame, got a bit snippy at this suggestion.
