It’s been another incredible year for new Warhammer miniatures, and we couldn’t possibly choose a favourite – which is why we asked you to pick one. After Ghazghkull Thraka won last year’s poll, which amazing model would be triumphant in 2021?
Before we get onto this year’s top three, we wanted to share some honourable mentions for miniatures that you voted for in droves.
Dragons returned to the Mortal Realms with a stunning kit that builds either Krondys or Karazai and, understandably, you were fans of both the angry scarred dragon and the skilled mage dragon.
The latest edition of Kill Team launched with a boxed set packed with new miniatures. The Death Korps of Krieg models edged out the Ork Kommandos in the voting, and we can’t blame you – who can resist carrying a shovel to war?
The slann Relic Priest being such an incredible miniature was always part of the Old Ones’ grand plan. So when Lord Kroak made his big return, he had to be suitably impressive, and we think his high place on the list is well deserved.
When one of the High Lords of Terra strides out onto the battlefield, they have to inspire awe in the warriors of the Imperium, as well as fear in the mutants, witches, and xenos that they face. Morvenn Vahl manages both of those in her ornate – yet frighteningly functional – warsuit.
There were those that thought the great white squig was just a myth! Mozrog Skragbad not only proved that it was real, but he tore through the competition to land a top ten spot among the miniatures of 2021.
We’re sure that if you were to ask Sigvald himself, he’d say that he should have won this year’s vote – and many of you agreed with that sentiment. This incredible reimagining of a classic kit just misses out, though.
All of those outstanding miniatures would have been worthy winners, but your votes left them outside of the top three. Here, without further ado, are the winners of this year’s gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The High Marshal of the Black Templars has crossed the Rubicon Primaris, and got a fantastic new miniature to celebrate. He also nicely rounded out Games Workshop’s Year of Green by featuring an unlucky Ork on his base.
We knew he was going to be popular based on your reaction when we first announced him at Warhammer Fest back in May, but we didn’t realise just how popular! Duinclaw and his buddies from Elathain’s Soulraid don’t want to hog the limelight though – they’re not that shellfish.
Which means that the winner of this year’s Miniature of the Year vote is (drum roll please)…
Yes, Be’lakor the Dark Master takes it! After missing out last year, Chaos returns to the top of the pile, just as in 2016,* 2017, 2018, and 2019 – and with such an imposing miniature, we’re not surprised that so many of you were enthralled by his dark powers.
Grab all of these kits from the Games Workshop webstore and join us over on Facebook and Twitter to join in the debate about why Elathain’s Soulraid should have won.** You should also sign up for our newsletter so that you don’t miss out on any of the fantastic miniatures that will come out in 2022.
* Although we still feel that the Armoured Containers were robbed in that vote.
