It’s that time of the year where everyone declares their New Year’s Resolutions – eat more healthily, go on more adventures, or paint a new army.
Armies on Parade 2022 is the perfect excuse to pursue these dreams. It’s a year-long series of themed challenges focused on different elements of your army, like Battlefield Behemoths, and culminating in the Grand Finale, which will take place in November.
We’re kicking it all off with New Year, New Army, which runs throughout January and February, so pick an army and jump into a year of painting and hobbying. Need some inspiration? We’ve got you covered.
Give the Gift of Blights
With a fresh new battletome, the Maggotkin of Nurgle have had a disgusting overhaul and an all-new Vanguard Box. This army is tough as nails and filled with small, elite units, so you can crack through the challenges with time to luxuriate in your progress, just as Nurgle would. And who doesn’t love painting Nurglings?
Walk the Path of the Painter
With Eldritch Omens right around the corner, now is the perfect time to get a head start on painting up the Asuryani craftworld of your choice – or perhaps a Ynnari force? Combat Patrol: Drukhari and Start Collecting! Craftworlds make brilliant starting points.
A Tale of Embers and Oceans
If you’ve got a pal or a gaming group that wants to share, then a battlebox like the upcoming Fury of the Deep marks the perfect place to start a paired hobbying and gaming project. Pick up a box each, trade halves, and add Start Collecting! Fyreslayers and Idoneth Deepkin into the mix – you could even do complementary or opposing colour schemes for fun.
Plan Ahead or Charge in Recklessly
You could easily plan your project around an army that has a big, organised set-up to choose from, like the Space Marines. If you’re more freewheeling and anarchic, why not just pick up a grab bag of Orks and see which way the Waaagh! takes you?
Make sure you share your New Year, New Army progress on social media with #ArmiesOnParade2022 – and keep an eye out on the Warhammer Community site because we’ll be sharing our favourites. Stick with the themes and at the end of the year you will easily have built up a force to rival those we saw in Armies on Parade 2021.
If you blast through the first theme before the end of February, you can always get cracking with the next month’s theme – Armies on Parade 2022: Battlefield Behemoths. We’ve already got our eyes on a few choice chonkers.
