We recently showed off the new Fury of the Deep boxed set, featuring new miniatures for the Idoneth Deepkin and the Fyreslayers. Not only does the box set contain 43 awesome miniatures for these factions but it also gives you all the tools to play out an epic narrative campaign that goes some way to explaining why two forces from the same Grand Alliance have found themselves in such a bitter conflict. Get ready to travel to the legendary magmahold, Ryftmar.

On the Shores of the Acid Sea

Ryftmar is located on the southern coast of the continent known as the Great Parch in the Realm of Aqshy. Did they choose this location for the beautiful views over the Vitriolus Reach, the great beaches, or the excellent surfing on the Vitriol Sea? None can say for sure, but the Fyreslayers here guarded the Brimstein Hearthlands against rampaging raiders, cannibal hordes, and more, even through the Age of Chaos.*

The Collapse

After standing firm against countless assaults from the likes of Khornate worshippers and the Nighthaunt, Ryftmar was finally brought low by the skaven. In submarines.** It turns out that hordes of ratfolk in their little underwater boats aren’t as cute as they sound – the warpstone torpedoes that they fired caused terrible devastation to the lower vaults of the magmahold. Even though the Skaven were eventually driven off, the damage they caused left Ryftmar in a precarious position.

Soul Searching

That’s where the Idoneth Deepkin come in – an enterprising Thrallmaster identified Ryftmar as an excellent source of souls to be harvested. Figuring that the Fyreslayers are doomed in any case, he ordered his Isharann priests to churn the Vitriol Sea into a frothing rage, widening the breaches in the lower levels of the magmahold. The Fyreslayers were not impressed. Ignoring the fact that water usually quenches fire, the Auric Flamekeeper grabbed his brazier axe, rallied his troops, and got ready to defend his ancestral home. What happens next is up to you.

Fury of the Deep

Along with some incredible miniatures for the Fyreslayers and Idoneth Deepkin (including new heroes for both armies), the Fury of the Deep battlebox includes rules to play out the epic conflict for Ryftmar. Three battleplans will help you decide the magmahold’s fate, and there are new realm rules for fighting in the Vitriolus Reach. So, whether you want to call down a magical spell that makes your opponents’ saving throws worse or experience fighting in an acid rain storm, you’ll feel like you’re really in the heart of the action.

Along with all of this narrative content, the Fury of the Deep box also includes two armies – perfect for if you’re joining in with New Year, New Army or want to add to an existing force – as well the warscrolls, tokens, and core rules that you need to get them fighting on the tabletop.

The Fury of the Deep boxed set will be available to pre-order soon. In the meantime, learn more about the Fyreslayers in this Black Library anthology and sign up for our newsletter so that you don’t miss the release of the new battlebox.

** Forget the Hobby Project Generator, we want to see people starting armies of Skaven in subs this year.
