This Converted Genestealer Cult Will Have You Rushing To Join the Revolution

Saturday was the long-awaited day of ascension as the new Codex: Genestealer Cults hit the shelves. Now, the rebellion is in full swing and after Scott Frazier’s vibrant assortment of cultists and Brood Brothers last week, we’re proud to share Nathaniel Mills’ equally wonderful efforts. Get a load of these stunning conversions.

Nathaniel: I’ve loved Genestealer Cults since back when they drove around in limousines. I still have a metal Patriarch on his throne kicking about somewhere!

I think the thing that appeals to me is that they are the true underdogs of the 41st Millennium. They aren’t a colossal Waaagh! storming through space, or a crusading army waging war across an entire sector. Instead, Genestealer Cults are fighting for their home turf, and when the uprising has been generations in the making, it really is their home.

Most cultists are Imperial citizens who have grown up, lived, and worked alongside normal Humans. Your best childhood friend could have been one, but on the day of ascension, his priority has shifted by order of the Patriarch. Maybe you should have gone along to one of those meetings he kept inviting you to after all?*

The other thing I love about them is their naïve good intentions. They really do believe they’re making their planet a better place for all, and anyone can join. The world of Warhammer 40,000 may not have any good guys, but at least they’re trying!

Genestealer Cults are an absolute dream for anyone like me who wants to customise their army. I enjoyed the freedom to mix things up with multiple Imperial kits. It doesn’t matter if it looks ramshackle or even barely functioning. The cult doesn’t need its machines to work forever, they just need them to work for one really good day.

With cultists coming from every walk of life on any given world, it’s almost impossible to put a foot wrong when building an army of them, and the infantry kits available are so versatile.

So, I went for the classic industrial theme for my cult and made the Brood Brothers** in the same way rather than include any Astra Militarum models (at least, not whole ones) to really drive home the image of a revolution seizing myriad mining equipment and civilian vehicles to wage war on their oppressors.

I feel that Genestealer Cults are by far one of the most characterful armies to play in Warhammer 40,000. Remember, whether you win or lose, the Hive Fleet is still coming, and it’s always hungry!

Thanks, Nathaniel! Kick off your own revolution with a unit of Neophyte Hybrids and make sure to share your progress with us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – otherwise, you’ll make the Patriarch unhappy.

* Be warned, this will almost certainly guarantee a visit from an Ordos Xenos Inquisitor.

** Take a look at why Brood Brothers are so tasty in the new codex.
