The New Idoneth Battletome Brings Extra-beefy Leviadons to the Battleline

We unfurled the Age of Sigmar Roadmap at the end of January, showcasing a whole slate of upcoming battletomes. With the hot-tempered Fyreslayers, the deadly Daughters of Khaine, and the spectral Nighthaunt all poised to receive new rules, there’s a lot to look forward to this year – and even more to come.

Top of the list are the Idoneth Deepkin, so let’s dive deep into this briny book and tide you over with some awesome new rules.

Akhelian Leviadons are among the greatest bond-beasts tamed by the Idoneth. They’re absolutely huge, they hit like a fleet of trucks, and best of all, they’re adorable murder-turtles. Who could ask for more?

We could, apparently, because they’re set to get even better in the new Battletome: Idoneth Deepkin.

Nautilar is a moving city built atop a vast sea-beast – a living situation that gives these nomadic Idoneth a great appreciation for the titans of the depths. If your army belongs to the Nautilar Enclave, you’ll be able to field Akhelian Leviadons as Battleline units – because the only thing better than one Leviadon is a whole bale* of them. It’s a very cool new way to build an army – in fact, an enterprising Soulraid could cram as many as three of these not-so-gentle giants into a 2,000-point list.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Nautilar allegiance ability – the aptly-named Crushing Assault – offers even more power to their half-shelled goliaths, with an exclusive monstrous rampage that pushes both their Massive Scythed Fins and Crushing Jaws to Rend -3.

This ability makes the Leviadon truly a turtle for all seasons – munch through enemy hordes using its Crushing Charge, before taking huge bites out of Monsters and Heroes by boosting its Rend with a Crushing Assault. These chelonian champions can land over 20 damage in a single round of attacks – and that’s before the aelves on their back get involved!**

Leviadons aren’t alone on the Nautilar battlelines, of course. Your faithful Namarti Thralls are ready for guidance from the new Akhelian Thrallmaster, and if your general is an Akhelian King, you can even back them up with battleline Akhelian Guards. This versatile core allows your army to adapt to any situation, be it holding objectives or slaying enemies.

The Leviadon isn’t the only aquatic beastie to receive some love in the new battletome, and you can expect plenty more teasers in the coming weeks. Why not sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about new releases?

* That’s the collective noun for a lot of turtles. You learn something new every day!

** If only the dice gods were kind enough to let us land every attack – though even a single flipper can put your foes in a world of hurt.
