It’s March already, which for our purposes here today means one thing and one thing alone. White Dwarf 474 lands, and it’s a doozy.
The issue comes with two posters celebrating some huge new Warhammer video games – Total War: Warhammer III and Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. That’s on top of the regular card section in the middle of the magazine, which in this issue covers Kill Team and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
There are 18 Tac Ops cards for six specialist kill teams – three each for Ork Kommandos, Veteran Guardsmen, Sisters Novitiate, T'au Pathfinders, Corsair Voidscarred, and Chaos Space Marine Legionaries. Then there are updated warscroll cards for the Beasts of Chaos Herdstone and Blades of Khorne Skull Altar, Warcry character cards for the Fyreslayers Auric Flamekeeper and the Idoneth Deepkin Akhelian Thrallmaster, and a Sorcery Gauge Campaign Card for use in The Will of Khorne campaign included in this issue.
Harlequin Rules for Kill Team
The tricksy Harlequin Void-dancer Troupe is the sixth specialist kill team to grace the hallowed pages of White Dwarf, and its members will be pirouetting onto a tabletop soon in a dismembering flurry of monofilament wire and backflips. This is a complete package, containing rules for new operatives, as well as Spec Ops, Tac Ops, and requisitions.
All About the Blades of Khorne
Khorne’s angriest worshippers get the Tome Celestial treatment this month, with a full look at their background. They also earn a Battletome update including a new battle trait, a new warscroll for the Skull Altar, a Grand Strategy and three Battle Tactics for matched play, and further goodies for open play and Path to Glory.
How to Paint Astra Militarum
Then there’s a colossal 14-page hobby article showcasing a galaxy’s worth of Astra Militarum conversions and paint jobs. It includes guidance on how to paint 16 of the Astra Militarum's most renowned regiments, with a host of hobby inspiration besides.
Warcry Reaches Boiling Point
They’ve hit the ground running in the latest edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and now the revitalised Fyreslayers and Idoneth Deepkin are coming to knock Chaos heads at the Eightpoints. There are two new campaigns, Preserve the Lodge and Ripe for the Harvest, and two new character cards for the Auric Flamekeeper and the Akhelian Thrallmaster.
And Much More
And the hits keep coming – there’s the third instalment of Heirs of Reason, the six-part Tome Keepers novella, as well as new scenarios for Aeronautica Imperialis and the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, plus info on Warhammer Underworlds and new Flashpoints for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
Phew! White Dwarf 474 will arrive for pre-order in most regions* from this Saturday. And if you’re in Germany, there’s a little extra treat – an exclusive card to use in games of Munchkin.
* It’ll be available a little later in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
