The US Open Series is back for another massive tour of Warhammer events in 2022. This season, the roadshow heads out west, and we’re here to share all of the delicious details, including a suite of new events for fans of narrative play.
If you were lucky enough to attend last year’s events, or followed the coverage online, you’ll know the US Open is held in epic, gorgeous settings. To make sure the Warhammer love is spread far and wide, the Events Team have been hard at work booking five incredible new locations for 2022 – Seattle, San Diego, Chicago, Kansas City, and all culminating with a Grand Narrative event and the tournament finale at a fancy resort on the banks of the Rio Grande in New Mexico.
The Events
US Open Seattle 2022 May 6th – May 8th
US Open San Diego 2022 June 9th – June 12th
US Open Chicago 2022 October 6th – October 9th
US Open Kansas City 2022 October 27th – October 30th
Grand Narrative & US Open Finale 2022 New Mexico November 17th – November 20th
Each of the four main US Open events features headline Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar Grand Tournaments and Narrative Events, in which Chapter Masters, Autarchs, Generals, and Warlords from across the nation come together for three days of hobby bliss.
As major events in the Warhammer calendar, each tournament awards points (where appropriate) towards ranking systems such as the International Tournament Circuit (ITC), and there are some amazing prizes to boot – more on those later. Meanwhile, each weekend’s Crusade and Path to Glory events begin on Friday after work and continue Saturday and Sunday, offering an epic narrative if that's more your speed than a head-to-head tournament.
In addition to the Grand Tournaments and Narratives, each location is also hosting specialist hobby events for one of your favourite game systems. Incredible hobby seminars, tournaments for Kill Team, Warhammer Underworlds, and Blood Bowl – there’s even the chance to just come by and pick up a game or two throughout the weekend. All this is on tap for the US Opens this year.
The New Mexico event will be a little different. First off, it will play host to the finals for Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds, for those who managed to secure victory at qualifying events. It will also play host to our most ambitious narrative events yet for fans of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, with a huge, immersive experience that promises a weekend unlike anything else.
Whether you’re a seasoned tournament veteran, an experienced hobbyist, or taking your first steps into competitive Warhammer, the US Open Series is perfect for you. Hang out with like-minded hobbyists, throw some dice, and have fun amidst one of the greatest gatherings of Warhammer fans this year.
The Prizes
Like last year, the Best Overall and Best General winners for both Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 will receive gorgeous blacksmith-forged trophies to take home – and have their names engraved forevermore on the Eternal Trophies (earning a lifetime of bragging rights).
That’s not all – winners from each Grand Tournament will also claim one of the exclusive Golden Tickets to the Finale in New Mexico. These tickets cover both airfare and hotel accommodation, so all you’ll need to do is sit back and bask in the glory of your victory.
They won’t be the only Golden Ticket holders. If you can’t make a US Open Series event this year, winners of the independently run Las Vegas Open, AdeptiCon, and NOVA tournaments will each earn one too!
