Hammer and Bolter is Back With a Nurgle Theme – And the Grossest Episode Yet!

Hammer and Bolter is back on Warhammer TV, and the latest episode is fertile ground for fans of all things Nurgle. Plague Song is premiering right now, and you can get a foul taste below.

This episode of Hammer and Bolter really puts the “grim” into grimdark. As you would expect from a story starring the worshippers of Nurgle, the episode gets quite gross at points – a suitable tribute to the god of rot and plagues.

In Plague Song, the putrescent sorcerer Ephisis takes command of a Death Guard warband by turning its current leader into a Chaos Spawn. That’s certainly one way to make your way up the chain of command in a Traitor Legion…

Determined to do right by the Father of Disease, and aided by the impish Nurgling Nex, Ephisis pushes his mastery of Nurgle’s poxes to the limit. It’s not long before he learns that their spread isn’t restricted purely to material space…

Naturally (or is that unnaturally?), this breakthrough leads to some truly disgusting animation, as Ephisis unleashes a mighty blight upon unsuspecting Imperial forces. If you’ve ever wondered what Nurgle’s gifts look like when they afflict the flesh… then this is your lucky day!*

You’ll need a strong stomach to take on this episode, but it’s a rewarding foray into the delightful and disgusting world of Nurgle’s particular gifts, and a fascinating look at how the servants of the Plague God wage war against the Imperium of Man.

The artists and animators have done an outstanding job conveying one of the more morbid parts of the Warhammer universe, creating images of rot and decay that aren’t easily shrugged off even by the most stoic of warriors.

Thankfully, even if your disposition means Nurgle’s bounties are just a little too much to stomach, there’s a host of more savoury morsels coming to Warhammer+ this week.

Loremasters returns with an episode devoted to a reality-stradling superstar Slayer, the one and only Gotrek Gurnisson. Meanwhile, bloodthirsty skull-takers face off against zealous power-armoured nuns – that’s right, the Daemons of Khorne and Adepta Sororitas are set to do battle with brass and flame in a new episode of Battle Report.

The Warhammer Vault dials time back a little earlier than the End Times, bringing us Sigmar’s Blood, wherein the forces of the Empire face the rising vampire threat in next-door Sylvania. Plus, catch battle reports, hobby articles, and more from issues 375 and 374 of White Dwarf
