Arena of Shades is the newest boxed set for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and it arrives for pre-order this weekend. This giant box is bursting at the seams with miniatures for both Daughters of Khaine and Nighthaunt, covering a savage clash in the arenas of Har Kuron.
We’ve already highlighted several of the new models, including High Gladiatrix Yelena and Vayon of the Withered Quill, but this time the lid is coming thoroughly off as we rummage through the entire contents.
This battlebox contains a whopping 44 miniatures, including seven all-new models. It also comes with all the accessories you need to play games straight out of the box, including rulebooks, warscroll cards, and tokens.
The High Gladiatrix and Scriptor Mortis lead their armies into Har Kuron’s bloody streets, and if you’re too excited to wait for Saturday and want to start hatching your battlebox-based plans, you can now take your first look over their sprues.
The Scriptor Mortis comes with a contingent of Craventhrone Guard, a new ranged unit for Nighthaunt armies. The Nighthaunt are also bringing a wide range of units to the party, including frenzied Bladegheist Revenants, wailing Myrmourn Banshees, and a cruel Spirit Torment with his enslaved Chainghasts.
For Daughters of Khaine, this box includes a variety of Morathi-Khaine’s devotees – a spearhead of Doomfire Warlocks, airborne Khinerai Heartrenders, and agile Sisters of Slaughter.
Also included is a campaign booklet chronicling the bad blood between Morathi and Nagash, with reams of background information and new lore for both factions. The clash takes place after the events of Broken Realms: Morathi, after the Shadow Queen earned the ire of Nagash by paying a consignment of souls to the Idoneth Deepkin – which he believes, as with all souls, were rightfully his.*
The booklet includes warscrolls for all three new units (plus every other unit in the box), and is accompanied by a 56-page core rules book for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, allowing you to play games straight out of the box with ease.
Finally, no new battlebox would be caught dead without a big stack of gameplay tokens. This one comes with two entire sheets of them, so no matter how many objectives or command points you hold, you can keep track in style. There’s also a transfer sheet too, if you fancy giving your models a little extra pizzaz.
This battlebox will be your first chance to get your hands on the new units – all of whom pack a nasty punch on the battlefield. You can already read a little bit more about the Scriptor Mortis and his poison pen, and stay tuned over the next few days to find out how the High Gladiatrix slices and dices her unfortunate foes.
Arena of Shades will be available for pre-order this weekend. Are you planning to start a Daughters of Khaine or a Nighthaunt force? Let us know over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
