The shadow of Chaos looms at your local Warhammer store, and tendrils of corruption lick at the edges of May’s miniature of the month. Will you resist the call to damnation, or will you take up the Warmaster’s (commemorative) coin?
To celebrate the approach of Codex: Chaos Space Marines – whose delightfully devilish cover we had a peek at yesterday – this month’s miniature is a nefarious Cultist of the Abyss.
You may get a model that looks a little different from the one above, but rest assured they all have the same fanatical devotion to the Ruinous Powers.
Chaos Cultists come in many guises, and make the perfect canvas for your own infernal colour scheme. Your local Warhammer store can even help you along with the Pick ‘n’ Mix Paint Set. You’ll get the most expensive paint free when you buy 10 – so you can give your Cultist a glow-up worthy of the Dark Gods.
Need a few ideas? Basecoat your model with some appropriately-named Abaddon Black, before giving it a deep ruddy loincloth with Gal Vorbak Red, Word Bearers Red, and a wash of Carroburg Crimson. Add a well-worn skin tone of Cadian Fleshtone and Kislev Flesh, before painting its ragged clothes in a mixture of Eshin Grey and Dawnstone. Finally, cap it off with some lovely metallic highlights in Leadbelcher and Screaming Bell.
Don’t forget to ask our helpful staff if you need an expert to help you pick out the perfect colours or share some painting techniques. For more advanced advice, check out the free Citadel Colour app – which contains tutorials for all sorts of specific colours and models – and browse painting videos on the Citadel Colour website.
While you’re at it, you can even find out how to get hold of the profanely glamorous commemorative coin!
If you’ve collected six coins, you can also snag an exclusive display album with spaces for a whole year’s worth. Just ask your store manager and get ready to show off your collection.
The coin, album, and miniature of the month are only available while stocks last, so get down to your local Warhammer store from the 7th of May to claim yours.
Bring along a friend to get them started on their Warhammer journey with a host of great activities, including all kinds of painting and gameplay tutorials run by the friendly Warhammer staff – and their choice of two free starter miniatures.
