As giant slabs of muscle and violent tendencies, corrupted Ogryns are often found among the forces of Chaos, and the more free-thinking ones find frequent employment in Blooded kill teams. With Kill Team: Moroch coming to pre-order this weekend, we’re taking a look at our favourite big lug to see just how much damage we can make one do.
The Blooded kill team has plenty of close-ranged killers at its disposal, but the Traitor Ogryn is the undisputed king of smash. Packing more Wounds than a Space Marine and a claw that can crush the Emperor’s finest with ease, he’s already a fearsome combatant without any help from his warp-cursed comrades.
Teamwork makes the dream work though, and with a little TLC from fellow operatives we can take the carnage much further.
First we enlist the services of our good friend the Traitor Corpseman,* who spends all of the time he saves from not reading Astra Militarum ethics codes developing potent combat stimms. His Regular Dosage ability makes the Ogryn inhumanly tough all game long, while a quick spot of battlefield medicine ensures his melee weapons will be extra deadly.
Selecting Recon during the Scouting step gives the big lad a free Dash, and the Traitor Enforcer’s aptly named Enforce action can spur him on further. Add in the Traitor Commsman’s Signal action for an extra AP to spend on more Dashes, and the Ogryn becomes a muscle-powered rocket ship.
His own Avalanche of Muscle ability means that he’s knocking Wounds off his victims when he charges, before that power maul even starts swinging, softening them up nicely for an epic beating.**
Imagine the surprise on your opponent’s face when their carefully concealed operatives find themselves face-to-face with a very angry Ogryn before they’ve taken a shot. While he’s causing mayhem behind enemy lines, the rest of your Blooded operatives can spread out and take objectives at their leisure.
Pre-order Kill Team: Moroch this weekend to get your hands on the Blooded and their madly aggressive playstyle, and stay tuned to Warhammer Community for more information as we get closer to release.
* Yes, they spell it like that on purpose.
** With bulk like that, there’s no fear in absorbing a few return hits so you can get maximum damage out.
