Painting. It’s what makes a miniature truly yours. And Citadel Colour paints are designed to make your next painting project the best it can be. They bring your armies to life on the tabletop, so you can create epic stories with them.

We are approaching the release of 25 brand new Contrast Paints, a range of new and reformulated Shade paints, and the best and brightest white Spray ever. If you’re brand new to the Warhammer hobby or you know someone who wants to get started with the amazing world of painting miniatures, take a look at why the Citadel Colour range is the only Warhammer painting partner you need.

The History of Citadel Colour

Classic Citadel Colour logo

Games Workshop has been making paint almost as long as it’s been making miniatures – that’s nearly four decades. In that time, they’ve learned a lot, and the Citadel Colour range has been honed to work perfectly on your miniatures, so you can trust you’ll get the results you need every time. There may be an entire universe of paint out there, but Citadel Colour is made specifically for use on miniatures.

The paint technicians at Games Workshop have designed these paints so that whether you’re looking to take your first steps into the exciting world of painting Warhammer, or you’re an expert painter entering high-stakes competitions like Golden Demon, Citadel Colour is for you.

Iconic Colours Straight From the Pot

With more than 300 colours in the range it couldn't be easier to get exactly the right hue for your miniatures, with no need to mix paints! To get a codex-compliant Ultramarine or Blood Angel – or any other colour scheme you can dream up – the Citadel Colour range has every colour you need, making it easy to achieve consistency and uniformity across your armies and paint schemes.

What’s more, all Citadel Colour paints undergo rigorous quality control as every pot is tested on the production line as it is created, so you can paint with confidence without sweating the details.

So Many Paints – What Do They Do?

Paint Range

The Citadel Colour range is formulated to help you paint quickly and easily, and deliver the results you want.

  • Spray paints are designed to cover your Warhammer miniatures in one even coat, providing the ultimate foundation for other colours.

  • Base paints provide the bedrock for every element of your paint schemes, giving you a strong, solid colour on which to build.

  • Shade paints add depth to your miniatures. A long standing weapon in the arsenal of every painter, they're an invaluable paint. They have now been reformulated to flow even better into gaps and recesses to emulate shadows on your miniatures, bringing them to life in front of your eyes. Not only that, but seven new colours are being added to the range, to give painters even more options when shading.

  • Layer paints work in tandem with Base paints. Either layer up to add saturation, brightness, and contrast to your miniatures, or create eye-catching highlights to make your armies stand out even more on the tabletop.

  • Dry paints swiftly add realism to complicated textures such as fur and chainmail through a technique called drybrushing – a way to quickly highlight textured areas.

  • Technical paints are an awesome way to create churned up battlefields or alien landscapes on your bases, or to add gnarly effects like gore splatters, or a variety of ageing and weathering to your miniatures.

Outside of the traditional methods of painting miniatures, Citadel Colour have also made some great strides in paint, creating one-of-a-kind formulas like Contrast paints.

These unique paints offer an entirely different approach to painting your miniatures as swiftly and as simply as possible, while still getting great results!

They are designed to shade recesses, tint surfaces, and pull away from raised areas all in one simple, rapid coat, helping you get your miniatures Battle Ready in the blink of an eye. Try them over a range of our brilliant and smooth Spray paints – Grey Seer, Wraithbone, and the new White Scar.

Adventurous painters and seasoned veterans will also find plenty of inventive ways to work Contrast into their projects, using them as glazes and creating all manner of fantastic effects with the staggering 62 paints in the Contrast collection.
