Choosing the Right Operatives for the Job is the Key to Victory in Kill Team: Nachmund Missions

LVO KillTeam Jan28 NachmundHeader

Welcome back to the Nachmund Sector, commander. This week’s pre-orders contain vital intel in the form of the Kill Team: Nachmund rulebook, available for the first time outside a boxed set. Among all that juicy lore and complete rules for Chaos Space Marine Legionaries and Aeldari Corsair Voidscarred, you’ll find nine daring missions to embark upon with your kill teams.

Whether you’re demolishing a reactor, cutting off supply lines, or crippling enemy infrastructure, these missions will stretch your tactical abilities to their limits, and you’ll need the right team for the job when the bullets* start flying. We’ve prepared a dossier of intel on three of these missions – study it well, for the fate of the galaxy may well be at stake.

Mission 1.1: Steal the Ciphers

The enemy has vital intelligence hidden in secure underground bunkers. Can you overwhelm their defences and retrieve the data?

This mission is all about speed and board presence, as operatives spread out to secure objectives scattered across the killzone. A successful Attacker will need highly mobile warriors – like the Corsair Voidscarred’s Shade Runner – as you need to reach the vents and hatches in good time while your long-range operatives move up to clear threats.

Defenders, on the other hand, should field every body they can muster. Kill teams that can take extra operatives, like the Veteran Guardsmen, can use the added manpower to present a solid wall of bodies on their objectives, keeping the enemy away simply by obstructing their movement.

Mision 2.1: Escape Drill Site

A clandestine drilling operation has uncovered valuable materials, and now the kill team must escape with their loot.

In this mission, both Attackers and Defenders have the same goal: Pick Up as many of the objectives as you can, and keep them away from the enemy. With only two key locations to fight over, elite, low-body kill teams like the Phobos Strike Team from Kill Team: Moroch will find it much easier to make an impact in the scrum.

Prying objectives from the cold dead hands of enemy operatives is the name of the game, giving strong close combat fighters a distinct advantage. Kill your rivals quickly enough, and you can snatch an objective before your activation is even over – the breathtakingly deadly Legionary Butcher and other melee specialists should be at the top of your list.

Mission 3.1: Counter-Attack

With territory lost to the enemy, a kill team sets up defensive positions to hold their ground against the inevitable counter-attack.

With their starting position surrounded, the Defender will find their tactical capabilities pushed to the limit as the Attacker closes in from all sides. Powerful ranged weapons are key, while operatives who can attack under a Conceal order like the Marksman Pathfinder can make use of their superior cover to remain safe all game long.

The Attacker faces the difficult task of rooting out hidden Defenders to clear a path to the centre. With so many targets bunched together, weapons with the Torrent and Blast rules are worth their weight in gold, giving kill teams with grenades and flamers, like the Sisters Novitiate, a clear advantage.
