Yesterday we revealed some of the rules for the new Rotmire Creed warband. Today it’s the turn of their rivals from the Heart of Ghur boxed set to take their moment in the sun – not that the Horns of Hashut will see much of the sun through all that fire, flame, and smoke.
Earlier in the week, we learned how Reactions will shake up your Warcry games in the new edition. The Horns of Hashut have a faction-specific Reaction that should keep enemy fighters at arm's length – Breath of Cinder and Smoke.
Use this to lower an enemy fighter’s Strength and make it harder for them to hurt you with their attacks. Of course, the Father of Darkness especially loves it when the three damage points from this Reaction take an enemy fighter down.
The Horns of Hashut have a range of faction-specific Abilities that reflect their love of fire and destruction. One of our favourites, as much for its awesome name as its use in game, is the Engulfing Flames of Dark Artifice.
This ability can be used by a Demolisher armed with a flamehurler, who can then finish off any survivors with this arcane device that belches gouts of infernal fire.
The Engulfing Flames of Darkness are perfect for wounding a group of bunched-up enemy fighters, especially if they’re all around an objective marker that should belong to the Father of Darkness.
It’s not just Demolishers that come armed with weapons of flame and ash – the warband’s leaders, known as Ruinators, also have a few smokey tricks up their sleeves. Chuck an Ash Bomb at your enemies and take advantage while they’re busy choking on the fumes.
Use this ability when you want to deny an area to your opponent, such as an objective or treasure token. If those enemy fighters really want it, they’ll have to risk being weakened – making it easier for you to take them down!
You’ll be able to pre-order the Heart of Ghur boxed set from Saturday. In the meantime, learn how to paint your Horns of Hashut with our step-by-step Battle Ready and Parade Ready guides.
