Not everyone comes to Warhammer: The Horus Heresy to fight with Adeptus Astartes. Some take up their dice in the name of the Omnissihah. These cyber-augmented armies are bristling with esoteric weaponry and apocalyptic war machines, creating a unique presence within the battles of the 31st Millennium.
Liber Mechanicum – Forces of the Omnissiah contains rules for all the armies of the Mechanicum, from the all-knowing Archmagi, through the hordes of Tech-thralls, Secutarii, and to the packs of specialised Battle-automata. Then there’s that little section at the end that contains all the rules for Questoris Knight Houses and Legio Titanicus…
This book gives you plenty of reasons to hand over your bolter, and succumb to the loving embrace of mechadendrites. Perhaps later you might want to transfer your consciousness into a superior metal chassis and improve your battlefield powers.
The intricate and near-incomprehensible webs of influence within the Taghmata Omnissiah allow each Archmagos Prime to wage war with a battlehost as unique in style and purpose as they are. Pick one of seven different High Techno-Arcana, which provide access to unique wargear and special rules. Take the Cybernetica discipline.
An Archmagos with Cybernetica turns all Castellax Battle-automata Maniples in their Detachment into Line Units – troops that can score objectives and deny them to your opponent – and makes them more effective at pulverising cravens that hide in cover. It also lets Automata become effective bodyguards for the Archmagos and shield him from damage.
The Myrmidax High Techno-Arcana lets you pick a Thanatar-Calix Siege-automata, which converts nearby Myrmidon Secutor and Destructor Hosts into Line Units and boosts their combat ability.
Sometimes, the Archmagi of the Mechancium gaze upon their towering battle automata and the words “no, too small” arc across their cogitator circuits, which is where the Questoris Household fits in.
The Knights that make up these armies operate as Lords of War in Mechanicum armies, but the Divisio Questoris Household rules break them out into their own force. For every two Troops choices – which are Armigers, by the way – a Lord of War may be taken. There are oodles of options on top of this, making Knight armies more attractive than ever.
This barely scratches the rusty surface of the Liber Mechanicum – Forces of the Omnissiah, which contains many diverse ways of waging war, including the unparalleled might of the Titan Legions.
Liber Mechanicum goes up for pre-order this Saturday, bringing you one step closer to mechanical domination. You’ll need a copy of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness Rulebook to use this hallowed tome of the Forge Worlds if you haven’t already picked one up.
