Last month, we had the first glimpse at the new Chaos Legionnaires warband for Warcry. Let’s see how the chosen of Be’lakor will do battle in the Gnarlwood.
Reactions are one of the major changes for the new edition of Warcry. So when an enemy fighter gets too close, a Chaos Legionnaire can make a Call to Arms, allowing one of his buddies to step in and provide some retaliation.
Use this Reaction when one of your fighters is on their last legs and unlikely to survive to use their own activation. Call in some help, and make your opponent regret applying the coup de grace.
But, of course, Chaos Legionnaires prefer to get their retaliation in first. In their hands, defensive equipment can be used on the offence with the Shield Ram Ability.
Even the lowest of Be’lakor’s followers, known as Hornshields, can use this Ability.
Use this to cause bonus damage to an enemy fighter when you make a move, and then finish them off with your axe, sword, or mace.
While a Decuriarch, the leader of the warband, can smash enemy fighters with his shield too, they can also wound fighters at range thanks to their Dark Pact with Be’lakor.
You can use this to end the life of an enemy fighter who’s somehow survived an assault from your Decuriarch, or to snipe at foes who think they are safe just because they’ve kept their distance from your leader.
Accompanying the Chaos Legionnaires to the Gnarlwood is the mighty Centaurion Marshal. This devastating fighter can be taken as an ally for any Chaos warband – he’s an eye-catching way to add some brute force to the Cypher Lords or the Unmade.
This beast comes with a truly destructive ability when you roll a quad – Skewer, Drag and Bludgeon. It offers two potential bonus attacks even before factoring in the Marshal’s usual flurry of blows! There’s very little in Warcry that can survive such an onslaught.
Don't forget to pick up your copy of Warcry: Heart of Ghur this weekend, to start your adventures into the Gnarlwood.
And tune in next week, when we'll have more news on the future of Warry, as well as info about Orginised Play in stores.
