Special Forces Enter Open Warfare with Free Warhammer 40,000 Rules for Five Kill Teams

Kill Team is a game of small, elite forces going toe-to-toe on deep-cover missions far behind enemy lines. Warhammer 40,000, on the other hand, is a game of huge battles between the most dangerous armies in the galaxy. But what happens when these special operatives are called to the front lines? They get a shiny new datasheet.

Five kill teams have earned free downloadable rules for your games of Warhammer 40,000 – the Kroot Farstalkers, the Imperial Navy Breachers, the Blooded, the Elucidian Starstriders, and the Gellerpox Infected. Here’s what to expect.

Kroot Farstalkers

Farstalker Kinbands – found in the Kill Team: Into the Dark boxed set – are mercenaries operating far from their home world of Pech. Equipped with an eclectic array of scavenged gear , they excel at taking down key enemy units with their Bounty Hunters ability – gaining permanent re-rolls to hit a target of their employer’s choice.

Each Farstalker packs a Kroot pistol to complement their rifles and scatterguns, for an extra boost in close combat. With access to high-powered special weapons and the ability to ignore enemy cover with a Pech’ra companion, they‘re excellent Elites choices in T’au Empire armies – especially if you’re going for an all-Kroot experience.

Imperial Navy Breachers

Years of experience clearing claustrophobic void craft has turned the Imperial Navy Breachers – also headed Into the Dark – into frightening close-range fighters. Their hardy Void Armour keeps their soft human parts on the inside while ranks of barking shotguns mulch anyone foolish enough to come into range.

Most importantly, supporting the Navy’s war effort has given Breachers experience fighting alongside many different allies. They can slot themselves into almost any Imperial army thanks to the AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM keyword. Need some tougher bodies to hold an Astra Militarum line or expendable(ish) assault troops to support your Space Marines? The Navy provides.

Traitor Enforcer and Traitor Guardsmen

The forces of Chaos come as a two-for-one deal, splitting the Blooded from Kill Team: Moroch into datasheets for the Traitor Enforcer and the Traitor Guardsmen. The former is an Elites choice with a power fist, who can be flanked by a hulking mutant Ogryn to crack skulls and absorb bullets.

Guardsmen provide a more disciplined and durable alternative to Cultist Mobs, with up to three special weapons adding real ranged punch. They retain the CULTISTS keyword too, giving them great synergy with existing Chaos Space Marine units – imagine your Alpha Legion Cult Leader’s bonuses applied to a squad toting a plasma gun, a meltagun, and a sniper rifle!

Elucidian Starstriders

The Elucidian Starstriders were last seen as the Cartographica Rogue Trader and Voidsmen-at-Arms, back in War Zone Octarius: Rising Tide. Those rules are now available here for free. The Voidsmen-at-Arms tote lasguns with an eye for close range breaching fire, while the Rogue Trader can be accompanied by their full retinue of specialist companions.

The Rogue Trader can also enhance nearby Voidsmen – as well as Imperial Navy Breachers – allowing you to represent your own crew of militant merchants as powerful HQ and Troops choices with the AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM keyword.

Gellerpox Infected

The Gellerpox Infected are techno-teeming Nurgle cultists accompanied by a variety of vermin. It’s only fitting that they also arrive with two datasheets – the Gellerpox Infected are made up of Nightmare Hulks and Gellerpox Mutants who overwhelm the enemy in a tide of flesh and metal, while the littler models gather together as Mutoid Vermin, swarms of endlessly regenerating warp-beasts.

These festering freakshows aren’t AGENTS OF CHAOS, but follow similar rules for mortal forces sworn to the Plague God – you can include them in DEATH GUARD and NURGLE TRAITORIS ASTARTES* Detachments without losing Battlefield Role slots or Faction abilities.

If you want to see how these guys perform in the shadows of spec ops warfare, Kill Team: Into the Dark and Kill Team: Annual 2022 are available now.

* The new rules for Marks of Chaos mean you’ll be limited to CORE and CHARACTER units in a Chaos Space Marines Detachment that includes Gellerpox – but they’re more comfortable in Patrols, anyway.
