Take your first steps on the road to immortality this weekend when the phenomenal new Slaves to Darkness Army Set goes on pre-order. This big box contains 14 brand-new Chaos miniatures, a special edition of Battletome: Slaves to Darkness, and a massive set of warscroll cards for the entire faction – which won’t be available anywhere else.
The Era of the Beast has infused the Mortal Realms with the primal energies of Ghur, and the Slaves to Darkness are no exception. Their ranks bolstered by horned brutes and mighty steeds, the worshippers of Chaos arrive with new rules befitting the Everchosen’s endless hordes.Leading the charge for the Slaves to Darkness are the Ogroid Theridons – hulking shock troops armed with colossal axes or a classic sword-and-shield combo. The ogroids built a flourishing Goroan civilisation in the Age of Myth, channelling their fierce tempers into craft and conquest.
Now wholly given to Chaos, they feel no such need to restrain themselves, and retaliate with Berserk Rage when injured, adding 1 to wound rolls for that combat phase.
As if that wasn’t enough, once per game they can let loose with Unleashed Savagery. This gives each of your ogroids an extra attack, but also prevents them from heeding the rallying calls of Inspiring Presence.
The Chaos Chosen are faithful devotees of the Ruinous Powers – their many victories winning them power, glory, and tasty new models. On the eve of battle they are further blessed with The Rewards of Chaos, which allows each unit to roll on the Eye of the Gods table after deployment – fingers crossed they don’t get Snubbed…
When you absolutely need to reduce your whimpering foes to ashes, these Heralds of Ruination can prove their mettle by fighting twice in the same phase. It’s only once per battle, and the exertion causes them to strike-last the second time around, but that’s no issue thanks to their formidable suits of hellforged armour.
The iconic Chaos Warriors have also taken a trip to the armourers. They receive a boost to their durability, which hits an iron-clad Save 3+, while their murderous weapons and ensorcelled halberds are seriously sharpened to gain Rend -1.
Eager to claim glory as Bringers of Desolation, these Warriors add 1 to their Attacks characteristic while they’re wholly within 12” of an objective you don’t control, or wholly within enemy territory. It’s an ability that truly cements their role as the antithesis of Order – the conquest never ends!
This is only scratching the war-blackened surface of this army. The Slaves to Darkness Army Set goes on pre-order this Saturday, and whether you’re devoting yourself to the almighty Archaon or rooting for the daemonic underdog Be’lakor, you’re in for a devilishly good time.
