The latest boxed set for Warcry is heading to pre-order this weekend. Sundered Fate sees the Seraphon sentinels known as the Hunters of Hunachi stalk a mysterious group of intruders through the fleshy Gnarlwood, as they battle the stone-faced cultists of the Jade Obelisk.
These Tzeentchian zealots hunt for the delicious, still-beating hearts of their victims, and seek to honour the daemonic Speaker in the Stone by desecrating their foe’s monuments, totems, and shrines.
This is terrible news for the guardians of Talaxis, the secret heart of the Ravening Ruin, subject of whispered rumour for treasure-hunters across Ghur. Talaxis isn’t just an old Seraphon temple – it’s the wreckage of the void-ship Eye of Chotec, which was knocked out of orbit in ages past, and fell flaming into the Realm of Beasts. Now it lies hidden amidst a writhing knot of carnivorous plants birthed by the energies of its malfunctioning realm-shaper engine.
No one knows what downed this massive ship, but the stink of sorcery is all over it. Iridescent spheres of crackling energy flicker across its broken mechanisms, warping flora and fauna alike – these strange Wyrdlights even twist time in their vicinity, turning an hour’s wandering into a decade lost in the Gnarlwood.*
Fragments of the void-ship litter the Gnarlwood, each a cache of wondrous treasure. These lesser ruins form a tangled maze known to the Seraphon as the Sundered Scales. Cold-blooded stewards oversee this overgrown labyrinth with eyes unblinking.
Fiendish traps abound in the Sundered Scales, whether ancient defences or malfunctioning mechanisms. Serpentine statues fire toxin-laced darts, ethereal chains shackle unwary raiders, and arcane wards immolate trespassers in beams of light or trap them in bubbles of displaced time.
Standing watch over these outer remnants is a great golden statue – the likeness of the Slann Starmaster Motzlpota, given command of the void-ship by Lord Kroak himself. It’s not just a pretty face – this figure will blast the life right out of any unworthy soul that gazes into its crystalline eyes. Sucks to be the jade-masked cultist ordered to smash this particular idol…
Most warbands will never live to find the core of Talaxis, but the riches are worth the risk. Within its cavernous holds lie treasures beyond imagination, even as the roars of monsters and the witch-song of arcane machinery echoes all around.
Warcry: Sundered Fate is up for pre-order this weekend. Will you defend the sacred perimeter of Talaxis with the Hunters of Huanchi, or set about smashing with the Jade Obelisk?
