Here’s What’s Coming to Black Library in 2023

BLPreview Dec4 Header

Welcome to the Warhammer Preview Online: Black Library 2022! The live stream is over now, but all the coverage has been collected right here.

You can even check out the Twitch stream here if you want to watch it as it happened.

Captain Vitrian Messinius

This year's Black Library celebration miniature steps straight from the pages of the Dawn of Fire series – it’s Captain Vitrian Messinius.

Messinus of the White Consuls cuts a dashing figure, with details that you’ll recognise from the novels including the auramite powerfist that was given to him by none other than Roboute Guilliman.

Dawn of Fire: The Iron Kingdom

Kicking off the Black Library celebration, Nick Kyme reveals the next Dawn of Fire novel, The Iron Kingdom.

This next instalment continues the story of Battle Group Praxis, as it surges forward with the rest of the Indomitus Crusade.

Siege of Terra: The End and the Death

Here’s Dan Abnett on the eagerly awaited next volume in the Siege of Terra series.

The end is undoubtedly on its way, but tying up a series as sprawling and complex as the Horus Heresy isn’t so simple!

Volume 1 of the The End and the Death will be released in a standard edition with the gorgeous art we’ve already previewed, and as a decadent limited edition bound in a faux-leather case with an embedded metal emblem, a red ribbon bookmark, gold page edges, full colour art, and a map inside.

Bad Loon Rising

Next up, there’s a distinctively madcap vibe descending, while Andy Clark takes time off from clawing at the moon to talk about a new Gitz book.

Bad Loon Rising tracks the rise of unlikely Loonboss Zograt and his insatiable thirst for power.

First Founding

We’re now going back to the grim darkness of the far future with First Founding as introduced by our presenters on the Stream.

Nine Chapters remain loyal to the Emperor this side of the Horus Heresy. Discover the challenges they are wrestling with in the wake of the Cicatrix Maledictum opening.

This intricate tome features background lore and art covering the Loyalist First Founding Chapters. It includes 30 specially-commissioned illustrations, nine of which are amazing double-page spreads.

Black Library Celebration 2023

While not announced in the Twitch stream, a few more things will be available as part of the Black Library celebration.

First up, Guy Haley’s Skarsnik and William King’s Angel of Fire were this year’s Reader’s Choice winners and you’ll be able to pick them up in 2023.

Cypher: Lord of the Fallen

Next up is a character series reveal, coming straight from the author himself, John French.

This limited edition is all about one of the Imperium’s greatest warriors, or perhaps their greatest traitor? There’s only one way to find out.

2023 Releases

Finally, Nick is back to run us through a stacked shelf of tales set to come out later in 2023.
