The World Championships of Warhammer are coming. This is already shaping up to be an incredible finale featuring competitors from three dozen countries and over 300 qualifier events – and you can be one of them!
Events from Austria to Australia are already signed up, pitting Warhammer players from across the globe against each other to prove themselves the undisputed champions of their favourite games.
More than 36 countries will be represented – and from five continents – making the inaugural year a truly global event! And if you’re a Warhammer fan Stateside, don’t forget you can aim to qualify for a place by taking part in the US Open, tickets for which go on sale TODAY.
Two long-running independent events among the qualifiers also have tickets on sale over the next month: the NOVA Open and London Grand Tournament.
All told, over 300 qualified players across four game systems will be represented (at minimum!) at the first World Championships in Atlanta, Georgia in November. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome such a diverse international crowd to the finals. And many more applications for qualifier events are still under consideration as they roll in.
The World Championships represent the entirety of the Warhammer hobby. Players will qualify at certain events based on Best Overall criteria (inclusive of their painting and competitive scores), while others are focused more on pure generalship.
During the first two days at the Finals, players will all compete in group stages akin to the World Cup, with the top eight players in each game system entering a Double Elimination event for Best General across the final two days.
The other players will compete for awards including Best Overall and Best Painted, while every competitor can earn further glory for their continent and country in a Ryder Cup-style accumulation of points for wins, painting score, and country overall scoring.
At the end of this article you’ll find the first wave of qualifiers for 2023. If the fates are on your side you’ll earn your shot to represent your country at the World Championships of Warhammer.

US Open Series Tickets On Sale
Don’t miss out on your chance to qualify for the World Championships – snag a US Open ticket before they sell out! The US Open Series is a true celebration of every aspect of the Warhammer Hobby, with rewards for Best Overall, Best Painted, and Best Generalship.
These events feature innovative bracketing formats that pit you against people of your skill level for the majority of the events (for example, you don’t have to bring an overly competitive army list, and will still play close-fought games with the army of your choice). Then there are the extensive hobby classes, social gatherings, narrative events, plus a massive popup store stocking Forge World items, the main Citadel realms, and oodles of event exclusives. Tickets go on sale Friday 10 February (that’s today!) at 5PM US EDT.
The Grand Narrative tickets also go on sale today for those wanting to get involved in that incredible event.
Two players each from the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar events at the Tacoma and Tampa Opens will earn places at the World Championships of Warhammer, alongside the winners of the Kill Team and Warhammer: Underworlds events. And from Kansas City, all five Best Generals and Best Overalls from the Warhammer 40,000 team event will join them, as well as the four victors in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar team event.
Winners of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 events at the Kansas City Open will even earn their place at the World Championships of Warhammer.
