The ash wastes are a miserable place at the best of times – caustic, rolling dunes of sun-scorched slag and killing sand, wracked by acid storms and cloud banks of noxious fumes. And that’s without having to contend with the Ash Waste Nomads who live among these hazards preying on unwary travellers, nor with the shambling marches of pilgrims who now cross the sands in a heightened state of religious fervour.
Despite all this, in the latest instalment of Apocrypha Necromunda we’re journeying to the outland settlement of Halfway, even as the Prophet arises and the Great Pilgrimage wends its way across half a continent towards Hive Temenos. Here we’ll find new Necromundan lore, a new scenario, and extra rules to enhance Ash Waste Nomad gangs – all available to download in Halfway Dead.
Packed with pilgrims, outcasts, and travellers, Halfway is a tempting target for the Ash Waste Nomad war parties of the Tsun’ghar. Led by a pitiless warrior chieftain known as the Wind that Walks, the Nomads descend on this frontier town intent on its destruction. Unfortunately for the Nomads, they didn’t count on one patron of the local drinking hole taking exception to their assault – the notorious outlaw Ashwood Stranger.
As well as a brand new and highly cinematic scenario called Hunter in the Storm, there’s rules for some of the strange World Spirits that are honoured and called upon by the Ash Waste Nomads. Beseech aid from the likes of Styr’ghar, the Storm Spirit who allows Nomads to seemingly disappear within the ash storms, Vau’ghar, the Fire Spirit whose molten torment can be channeled into a terrible melee frenzy, or Myr’ghar, the Blade Spirit, whose touch grants knives and spears a keen killing edge.
Halfway Dead can be downloaded for free right here. Check it out, and put the fear of the ash wastes into the interlopers!
