Warhammer Underworlds is the ultimate competitive board game. Fought over three rounds with a combination of superbly detailed miniatures and decks of cards that present countless tactical options for keen players, it remains as exciting today as it did when it was first released.
New seasons have brought fresh rules and many new Warbands, each with exciting abilities and their own pools of cards, turning the game into a delicious knotted pretzel of action and strategy. But with such rich extras, it might seem a little daunting to get into.
That’s where the new and completely up-to-date starter set comes in. – giving players the easiest way to get into the game.
The action returns to Warhammer Underworlds original setting – the cursed city of Shadespire. This new set contains everything a new player needs to get to join in the fun. That’s two warbands – Farstrider’s Fighters and the Sepulchral Guard – both of which come with updated fighter cards and their own Rivals deck, a 52-page rulebook and a 52-page playthrough booklet, plus all the boards, dice, and tokens you need.
These reworked warbands with their unique Rivals decks make this box a sweet deal for existing players too.
It’s the inclusion of the playthrough booklet that’s extra helpful for new players. The Playthrough Booklet runs you through a full, predetermined game of Warhammer Underworlds. It explains how each Warband makes activations, plays its Ploys and Upgrades, secures its Objective cards, and earns those all-important Glory Points.
New players can follow this on the board with their miniatures and cards to see how everything works in practice – you can even run through it solo if you’d like! The book also explores what might have gone differently, showing just how some minor changes could change the outcome, before offering helpful next steps and primers for how to get the most out of your two Warbands.
The 52 page rulebook includes all the rules you need to learn how to play games of Warhammer Underworlds, including all the latest changes from Wyrdhollow, such as Barge and Salvage. There’s plenty of information on how to get involved with the various formats on offer, where to start with organised play, and how to build your own decks.
The Warhammer Underworlds: Starter Set will be available to pre-order very soon.
