Two planetary conflicts are roaring into full flame this week, as the Inquisition attempts to quell a Chaos Cult in Kill Team and the Sons of Horus strive to retake their home planet from the Imperial Fists in the first campaign book for the new edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.
Kill Team: Ashes of Faith
The seeds of Chaos can take root anywhere, and it’s up to the Inquisition to grab its tools and get to work plucking them out before a whole planet or sector is overgrown with heretics. Kill Team: Ashes of Faith is an expansion for Kill Team with a narrative twist.
There are two full Kill Teams in the box. The Chaos Cult weighs in at 23 previously available miniatures, including the Dark Commune and a glut of Chaos Cultists. These lesser devotees can mutate mid-battle, exploding in a mess of flesh and bone as they become vile Mutants and horrifying Torments.
The Inquisitorial Agents Kill Team comprises seven new models, five of which can be built in two completely different ways – including an Interrogator, Questkeeper, Death World Veteran, Gun Servitor and more. Five Tempestus Scions and five Sisters of Silence provide Ancillary Support options to help them rat out the cult, with a transfer sheet for the latter.
Alongside the 72-page Kill Team: Ashes of Faith book, which details the rules and background for the Chaos Cult and Inquisitorial Agents kill teams, the box includes a 40-page Ashes of Faith Campaign Rulebook. This provides extensive narrative campaign rules usable by any kill teams – and is accompanied by supporting tokens, tiles, cards, reusable stickers, and a game board, allowing you to you play out a shadow war between two very different kinds of faith.
Heroes and characters from the past are returning on a Made to Order basis this week. First up is the Primaris Company Champion. This fellow, with his unique pose and laurel-wreathed helmet, was previously an event-exclusive miniature. He, perhaps like certain other exclusives in future, is returning to sale more widely for a limited time. Get him while you can!
You can order the Primaris Company Champion right now, alongside an array of classic Space Marine miniatures from years past. They will be available to order until the 29th of May at 8am UK-time – and they may take up to 180 days to arrive.
The full list that is available to order is as follows: in plastic, there’s the Primaris Company Champion and the Blood Angels Captain in Terminator Armour. In resin are Brother Corbulo, Chapter Master Pedro Kantor, Chapter Master Gabriel Seth, a set of Flesh Tearers Shoulder Pads, Darnath Lysander, Dark Angels Company Master, Captain Sicarius, Sergeant Chronus, and Sergeant Telion. In resin with plastic parts are Captain Tycho, Chaplain Cassius, and the Tyrannic War Veterans. And finally, in metal and plastic is the White Scars Khan on Bike.
Campaigns of The Age of Darkness: The Siege of Cthonia
Towards the end of the Horus Heresy, a determined Sons of Horus force returned to claim their homeworld from an entrenched Loyalist garrison of Imperial fists. Campaigns of the Age of Darkness: The Siege of Cthonia is a huge 240-page narrative supplement for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. It contains a comprehensive history of the Siege of Cthonia, detailing all of the forces involved, along with profiles for the Traitor and Loyalist leaders and rules to recreate key missions in this bloody conflict.
The fun times aren’t just for the VII and XVI Legions, however – the book also provides full rules for playing games of Zone Mortalis, fresh core and narrative missions, a new campaign system, Legiones Decurion upgrades to represent skilled tank commanders, the Infernus Abomination for the Traitor Legions, and rules and lore for Inductii of every Legion – unstable Astartes hastily recruited while the Heresy was in full swing.*
Campaigns of The Age of Darkness: The Siege of Cthonia (ePub)
The luxury of a heavyweight narrative tome cannot be underestimated, but for those commanders and generals who want the convenience of a digital format, The Siege of Cthonia is also available to pre-order in ePub format.*
Vindicator Siege Tank
The Legiones Astartes can now add squadrons of plastic Vindicator Siege Tanks to their armies – perfect timing for a supplement all about a planet-wide siege. Armed with your choice of wall-shattering demolisher cannon or a multi-barrelled magna laser destroyer, you can fine tune this squad tank to take out fortifications or warmachines.*
Lord-castellan Evander Garrius
Also known as the Tyrant of Cthonia, Lord-castellan Evander Garrius is an outcast among the Imperial Fists. Prone to brutal and uncompromising tactics, Evander’s single-minded desire to prove himself to Rogal Dorn saw him sent to Cthonia, where his particular skills could keep down rebellion. Outfitted in custom Terminator plate called the Tyrant’s Regalia, and armed with a mighty relic power gauntlet dubbed the Subjugator, this resin miniature comes with options for a bare or helmed head.
Vheren Ashurhaddon – Master of the True Sons
While the Warmaster wages war on Terra, Vheren Ashurhaddon launches a daring assault to retake Cthonia, homeworld of the Sons of Horus. Vheren has recruited a loyal cadre of “True Sons” set apart from the Terran-born veterans and warp-sworn degenerates of his Legion. With the Axe Serpentis in hand, he has set his sights on reclaiming his home from the Loyalists who occupy it. This resin miniature comes with a choice of bare or helmed head.
Infernus Abomination
A walking nightmare of transforming flesh and bone that might have once been a man, the Infernus Abomination is now an inhuman living weapon. Devised by the shadowy Cult Abominato in the latter days of the Horus Heresy as the ideal assassin for the Traitor forces, this shape-shifter whittles away at the sanity of their prey by adopting the guise of their greatest fear, before murdering them with their twisted flesh weapons. This miniature is available in resin.
Despoiler Squad Upgrade Set
Legion Tactical Squads excel at all ranges of combat, but if close-quarter engagements are expected they will arm themselves in the Despoiler configuration, trading their standard bolters for pistols, chainswords, and other melee weapons.
This resin upgrade Despoiler Squad Upgrade Set contains five right-handed chainsaws, five left-handed bolt pistols, a right-handed power axe, and a two-handed heavy chainsword so you can create Despoiler Squads from Tactical Legionaries. This kit is designed to be assembled with the plastic MKIII, MKIV, and MKVI Tactical Squad sets, as well as resin MKV Space Marines.
Contemptor Dreadnought Upgrade Sets
These resin heads and torsos are designed to be used with the Contemptor Dreadnought kit, adding a splash of Legion flavour to these fearsome machines.
Ultramarines Contemptor Torso
Their keen eye for logistics and organisation has given the Ultramarines plenty of time to outfit their Contemptor Dreadnoughts with appropriate Legion garb, including the symbol of Ultramar, two separate laurel wreaths, and an imperious eagle.
Thousand Sons Contemptor Torso
The Thousand Sons deck out their dreadnoughts with an ostentatious Prosperine ritual headdress and the Achaean winged scarab motif.
Word Bearers Contemptor Torso
Etched Colchisian sigils of mysterious portent dominate the torso of the Word Bearers Contemptor Dreadnought, which also features markings representing the searing fire of the Primordial Truth and strips of sacred parchment.
Salamanders Contemptor Torso
The sons of Vulkan share their home planet of Nocturne with massive fire drakes, and these savage reptiles feature in much of the Legion’s heraldry.
Raven Guard Contemptor Torso
The Raven Guard include winged motifs, Lycaean studs, and corvia – remains of the ravens the warrior interred within would have hunted as part of their initiation to the XIX Legion.
Alpha Legion Contemptor Torso
Although the Alpha Legion primarily operate with subterfuge, sometimes the brutal hammerblow of a Contemptor is exactly the right tool for the situation – or a terrifying distraction from your deeper goals.
