It’s a huge month for Warhammer events this week, both around the United States and in the United Kingdom. The first US Open event of the season kicks off in Kansas City on Friday the 2nd of June – and the Warhammer Events team will be streaming some very special exhibition clashes using the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. Here’s what you need to know.
Kansas City Open
The inaugural US Open event of the 2023 calendar still has a handful of tickets available for numerous Warhammer gaming tournaments, including the Warhammer 40,000 Singles and five-man team events, and the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Singles and four-man team events. There’s loads to see and do, including a huge shopping area stocking event-exclusive miniatures and swag, Forge World goodies, major narrative games, competitive Kill Team and Blood Bowl events, the hobby challenge, hobby classes, and loads more. The event runs from the 2nd to the 4th of June.
We’ll be livestreaming the top-table action as usual – but there are a few treats for avid Warhammer 40,000 fans. From 7pm CDT (1am BST) on Thursday the 1st of June and Friday the 2nd of June, we’ll be hosting full 2,000 point games from the new edition. There’ll be expert commentators on hand to break down the action and discuss the new datasheets for each and every unit that appears.
Tacoma Open
The second US Open event runs between the 14th and 16th of July, and it promises to be a whopper. In fact, the Warhammer 40,000 Tournament has sold out several times – so we’re releasing enough new tickets to take it up to 500 participants, making it the third largest single tournament event in the world! What’s more, this is the first event of its size using rules for the new edition – so get your tickets now.
There are loads of events for other Warhammer game systems too – we’ll be hosting around 1,000 players in total, alongside all the other brilliant stuff mentioned above.
The Atlantic City Open
This is an excellent independent event with a large Warhammer presence, including a large Warhammer 40,000 tournament. It runs in Atlantic City, NJ between the 16th and the 18th of June. Turn up and send the current edition of Warhammer 40,000 out in style with one of the last supermajors using this ruleset!
UK Games Expo
Back over in Blighty, Warhammer will have a stand at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham, which runs between the 2nd and the 4th of June. We’ll have demo tables for you to try out the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, as well as well-stocked store with event exclusives. You can also sign up to play Kill Team Live!
Warhammer World
A number of Warhammer World events go up for sale on the 5th of June. Even better, Golden Tickets for the World Championships of Warhammer are up for grabs from the Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds events! This could be your chance to win a trip to Atlanta, Georgia in November for a grand finale alongside participants from over 50 countries.
Take part in a celebration of the wider Warhammer hobby with the chance to flex your tactical muscles on the grim battlefields of the 31st Millennium in this Horus Heresy Throne of Skulls event. Play five games over two days, and compete for Best General, Best Painted Army, and Favourite Opponent awards.
Warhammer 40,000: Leviathan is a Throne of Skulls event, which means five games of casual matches played using the Chapter Approved card deck to generate five missions over two days using 10th edition rules. You’ll need an in-depth knowledge of the game and good sportsmanship to rise to the top.
Pair up with a pal and demonstrate your mastery of the Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game in a five-game tournament spread over two days. To triumph you’ll need to display keen strategic knowledge, as well as a sportsmanlike attitude. You can also take part in the Green Dragon Pub Quiz, and an army painting competition.
The Battles in Middle-Earth™ tournament is a three-game, one-day event designed for beginners and veterans alike. You’ll spend the day battling and hanging out with like-minded opponents, and will also have the opportunity to enter your best-painted hero into a competition.
