Raise your banners and march on the Mortal Realms in Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, the first ever AAA real-time strategy game set in the world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Coming to PlayStation® 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, this epic adventure from strategy game maestros Frontier Developments gives you command of four factions in expansive open warfare, featuring loads of your favourite units from the miniatures game.

Upgrade units with in-depth tech trees and unleash them against your rivals in gripping battles that change every time you play. Capture arcane conduits and harvest resources as you fight your war on multiple fronts, all to claim the realm of Ghur for your chosen faction.

An expansive single-player campaign co-written by Black Library legend Gav Thorpe sends the immortal heroes of the Stormcast Eternals on a mission to defend the fortress of Harkanibus from cunning Kruleboyz. Players can clash in 1v1 and 2v2 cross-platform multiplayer bouts, both in laid-back casual games and ranked leaderboards.

Realms of Ruin is built from the ground up to be as accessible as possible to console players as well as those on PC, with the innovative DirectStep™ system giving gamepad users unprecedented control over their forces without compromising on speed.

Best of all, you can get hands-on with the game in an upcoming Open Beta program. More details are on the way, so for now, add Realms of Ruin to your wishlist and register your interest for the Open Beta below.

Get a first look at the Tyranid horde you’ll be chainswording your way through in a new gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 by Focus Interactive. Lieutenant Titus will have his hands full booting the Hive Fleet off-world, and the classic gore-soaked Space Marine action is more brutal than ever. Pre-order the Collector’s Edition now and wishlist on Steam for the latest news.

Total War: Warhammer III

Skulls2023 May25 Logo 04 TWW3

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Warhammer with a brand new hero in Total War: Warhammer III – the legendary Chaos Warrior Harald Hammerstorm, better known as Harry the Hammer.

This icon took pride of place on the cover of the first ever Warhammer box set, and he returns to the Old World with his hammer arm in perfect condition. The latest patch adds is a big one, with new updates for Bretonnia and new Regiments of Renown, plus new end-game features for the outrageously popular Chaos Dwarfs in Immortal Empires campaigns, so fire up a new campaign and get the forges lit.

PowerWash Simulator x Warhammer 40,000

Warfare in the 41st Millennium is a messy business, but if you think the soldiers who fight against the galaxy’s horrors have it bad, spare a thought for the unfortunate custodians who clean up after them. Imagine all the blood, ichor, and who knows what else left over when the Space Marines have blown through yet another daemonic incursion or Tyranid invasion – you’ll need more than a mop and bucket to get that lot off.

Perhaps you should try a power washer?

PowerWash Simulator, the immensely popular clean-’em-up from FuturLab, takes a break from its laid-back spray-washing action to delve into the horrors of the far future. We’ll have more news for you on this epic collaboration as it comes in.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Skulls2023 May25 Logo 06 Darktide

The Rejects Unite content drop comes to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide soon. It’s the biggest content update yet, adding two new missions, earnable cosmetics, and UI improvements to the fast-paced, atmospheric co-op shooter. Better yet, a new face has come to terrorise the underhives of Tercium – the fearsome Chaos Spawn, fresh from the Warp and ready to ruin your day.

This new content update will be arriving in-game towards the end of the Warhammer Skulls festival, so keep an eye on the game’s Steam page for more information.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Skulls2023 May25 Logo 07 RogueTrader

Check out the latest trailer for the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader CRPG by Owlcat Games, introducing the newest party member – the indomitable Space Wolf Ulfar. Feast your eyes on enemies and locations from across the game world, from Drukhari in the dark depths of Commoragh to Necrons on their sinister tomb worlds.

Ground combat not enough? Get your first taste of vicious ship-to-ship battles in the darkness between the stars, and a hint of the nefarious Chaos machinations going on behind the scenes. Finally, you won’t have to wait long to get your first experience in the world of Rogue Trader – the Founders’ Beta goes live on the 1st of June.

Skulls2023 May25 Logo 08 Warpforge

This updated preview of the full Warpforge experience adds the ravenous predators of Hive Fleet Leviathan to the roster of playable factions, bringing the total so far up to six.

Taking part in the demo on Steam will also unlock priority access to a closed alpha playtest period beginning on the 8th of June, so get your first few licks in now.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

Skulls2023 May25 Logo 09 Boltgun

Since Rahul Kohli is presenting our Warhammer Skulls showcase, he’d naturally be talking about his starring role in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, right? Who wouldn’t want to be a Space Marine?

The game is a pulse-pounding throwback to the classic boomer shooters of yesteryear, full of righteous hyperviolence against the forces of Chaos, but don’t take our word for it – Boltgun is out right now on Steam and console, so get to the heretic-slaying!

Skulls2023 Showcase May25 Boltgun1

True veterans of the Ultramarines can also show their colours with two custom Boltgun-inspired controllers from the Xbox Design Lab. Take your pick with  preset colour schemes, including an Xbox Wireless Controller in classic Ultramarines blue and a First Company-approved Sternguard Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2  in white and blue. Check them out on Xbox.com

More Game News

Alongside today’s major announcements, a cavalcade of other Warhammer video games have been busy with updates and new content. Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector launches its Orks DLC, adding the raucous greenskins into this critically acclaimed turn-based strategy title, while Warhammer: Vermintide 2 showcases its new Karak Azgaraz levels and a sneaky tease at a new career for Bright Wizard Sienna.

Blood Bowl 3 has got in on the action by revealing the new Lizardmen team, who arrive in June’s upcoming Season 1 update.

The stunning soundtrack to Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus – composed by Guillaume David – is coming to vinyl for the first time, filling your ears with the hauntingly beautiful sounds of the Adeptus Mechanicus. World of Tanks: Modern Armour continues its celebration of Warhammer 40,000 with the recently released Leman Russ tank and a new Space Marine commander, placing the weapons of the 41st Millennium up against the best the modern day has to offer.

The Nurgle infestation spreads in new Bloom Assault missions for Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, though your Grey Knights will also need to keep their eyes peeled for the menacing War Dog Stalker and its Space Marine-crushing claws. On a lighter note, a new update for Shootas, Blood & Teeth expands its dapper selection of hats, and adds new leaderboards so you can find out who the meanest and greenest truly is.

Free Games!

Since we’re celebrating Skulls all week, how about some free games? Warhammer 40,000: Gladius is free to keep now over on Steam – just in time for its new Firepower Pack DLC – and the classic Warhammer 40,000: Final Liberation joins an extensive Goodie Pack of digital extras at GOG.com. Finally, the superb board game Talisman: Digital Edition can be claimed on the Apple App Store if you fancy a quick break from the horrors of the far future (or just the joy of stealing the Talisman from your friends at the last possible moment).

All three games are free to keep all week, so make sure you pick them up before Warhammer Skulls 2023 is over. Warhammer Underworlds – Shadespire Edition has a special offer where new and existing owners on Steam now get all the pre-existing DLCs bundled in with their game for free, unlocking a wide selection of warbands.

Mobile Games

There’s plenty to offer this week from mobile games too. The award-winning Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus introduces the Thousand Sons and an all-new campaign – and you can grab a free bonus with the code SKULLS23. Season 4 of Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower brings new outfits, new boons, and three new Chaos champions, while Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest courts the undead nobility as the Vampire Counts faction arrives to make their mark.

A double-whammy of card game content is also on the way: Warhammer The Horus Heresy: Legions releases the World Eaters battle pass, a new raid event, and a new traitor Warlord. Meanwhile, Warhammer Combat Cards sees the arrival of a new Space Marine Warlord and Ork Lord of War, accompanied by free giveaways and nine consecutive one-day events full of action and prizes.

And that’s not even everything happening at this year’s Skulls festival! For full details, check out the news from all of your favourite games and platforms below – the festival lasts all week, so there’s still plenty more to see.
