Adventuring into the underworlds of Warhammer is a dangerous business, and it pays to go in prepared. Luckily, a brand new starter set is here to make sure you’re well-equipped for the challenges ahead, alongside a spooky new warband who’ll cut right to the good stuff. Because it’s a sword. Swords cut… yeah, anyway.
Battle Report returns with the first ever pitched battle from the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, and the competitive week caps off with dramatic live coverage of the latest Warhammer US Open event. Did we mention there are more Faction Focuses to pore over too?
But first, some dubious ‘heroes’ join the lineup of blind-box Space Marines.
Space Marine Heroes 2023 – Death Guard
A new selection of warriors comes to the popular Space Marine Heroes range, this time it’s the pestilent Death Guard. While you’ll be able to buy these individually at selected stockists, you can also pick up the whole set in one go with this pack of eight boxes – which is guaranteed to include at least one of all seven designs. One of these malodourous characters is the Malignant Plaguecaster – pictured conjuring the flies from his staff – who has previously only been available in Japan.
Each miniature comes with a detailed base, and doesn’t require any glue to assemble. They’re a fun collector’s piece for fans of the forces of Chaos, and great additions to any Death Guard army.
Warhammer Underworlds: Starter Set
Jump right into the world of fast-paced, tactical arena combat with the new Warhammer Underworlds starter set. This box provides everything you need to get two players started with their first games of Warhammer Underworlds, including two complete warbands, two decks for the quick-fire Rivals format, and all of the boards, dice, and tokens required.*
The new starter set features the Farstriders, veteran Stormcast Eternals armed with powerful boltstorm pistols, and the Sepulchral Guard, undead tomb wardens who overwhelm their foes with sheer numbers. The step-by-step instructions guide players through their first games, steadily introducing new rules and game mechanics until pure novices become seasoned veterans.
The Headsmen’s Curse**
Many eclectic characters have led Warhammer Underworlds warbands in the past, but none quite so strange as a sentient, spectral sword. The dread blade Terminus has enthralled an entourage of Nighthaunt spirits, and it commands them to ferry it across the battlefield where its deadly attacks can reap a harvest of souls.
The Headsmen’s Curse is an aggressive, powerful warband focused on supporting the Wielder of the Blade, while the attendant Nighthaunt support their master with multiple control mechanics and special skills.*
Voidcursed Thralls Rivals Deck
Unlock new strategies in the exciting Rivals format with the Voidcursed Thralls deck, comprising 32 cards usable by any Warhammer Underworlds warband. This deck spreads the dreaded Voidcurse to your fighters, allowing them to use powerful Gambit cards that are especially potent in the hands of aggressive warbands.*
Yndrasta: The Celestial Spear (Limited Edition)
Follow Sigmar’s chosen huntress as she tracks a deadly monster from the deep in Yndrasta: The Celestial Spear by Noah Van Nguyen. Yndrasta is a merciless fighter as terrifying as the beasts she slays, but she’ll have to learn how to rein in her ferocity when the hunt for a deadly kraken forces her to cooperate with a nomadic human tribe who are just as wary of her as they are the monster.
This breathtaking Limited Edition is wrapped in a gorgeous soft-touch cover featuring the sculpted visage of Yndrasta herself, foil effects on the spine and back cover, gilt page edges, and a gold ribbon page marker. Each book is individually numbered and signed by the author, and limited to just 1,250 copies.
Ciaphas Cain: Choose Your Enemies
The Hero of the Imperium is back in action, fighting for the good of himself the galaxy in Choose Your Enemies by Sandy Mitchell. This new audiobook release captures the classic tale like never before, as Commissar Cain and the Valhallan 597th track the scourge of Chaos corruption across worlds in the wake of a cult uprising.
Fall of Damnos
A cataclysmic earthquake uncovers ancient necron tombs on the world of Damnos, and they waste no time exterminating the local human populace. Things are looking bleak in Fall of Damnos by Nick Kyme, until Captain Cato Sicarius and Chief Librarian Varro Tigurius arrive from the heavens with their Ultramarines – but even their consummate skills will be sorely tested by the risen xenos menace. And that’s before Tigurius receives a vision telling of the death of a hero…
This iconic Ultramarines story is now coming to audiobook format, perfect for listening to while you paint the valiant Space Marines from the upcoming Leviathan box set.
Renegades: Harrowmaster (German Edition)
We’ll be honest, this entire book might be lies, but that’s what you get with the Alpha Legion, and Renegades: Harrowmaster by Mike Brooks is one of the deepest dives into the duplicitous Legion we’ve seen to date. Solomon Akurra and his warband are hard-pressed by the arrival of the fearsome Primaris Space Marines, and if he wants to claim the title of Harrowmaster and unite his disparate brothers, he’ll have to adapt to the new normal of the Indomitus Crusades.
This novel is available in paperback and eBook editions, translated into German for the first time.
Warhammer 40,000 Chibi Figures Series 2
Decorate your painting desk with the second series of Warhammer 40,000 Chibi figures from Bandai, this time expanding the range with adorable takes on an Inquisitor, a Commissar, a Tempestus Scion, a Blood Angels Space Marine, and a certain head-swinging Crimson Fist you may remember from the classic Rogue Trader rulebook.
Each bag contains one random figure, and you can pick up a whole pack of 20 if you want to be sure you get the whole set.***
It’s a big week for Warhammer+, as the first Battle Report from the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 stars the headline acts from the awesome Leviathan box set. It’s totally free to watch, even if you’re not a current Warhammer+ subscriber.

Meanwhile, our Faction Focus series reaches the home stretch, with only the Drukhari, Genestealer Cults, and Imperial Agents left, plus a combined look at the various Space Marine chapters who don’t play by the Codex Astartes’ rules. We’re going to end things with a bang – so look forward to your first encounter with Titans in 10th edition this Friday.
