Reference Your Rules in Seconds With the New-Look Warhammer 40,000 Datasheets

The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is almost upon us, and with the broad spectrum of rules changes come brand new datasheets for every unit in the game. Some have changed a little, some a lot, and keeping these new rules in mind will be key to victory on a strange, unfamiliar battlefield.

What you really need is a handy way to have all of your new rules at your side – like, say, a pack of hardy datasheets designed especially for your faction of choice. It just so happens that these are coming just after the Leviathan boxed set, and you’ll be able to pick up an invaluable gaming aid from your local Warhammer stores on luxury, large-scale cards.

Each pack contains the faction’s army rule, one Detachment – complete with its Detachment rule, Stratagems, and Enhancements – and datasheets for every unit in their roster.* Together with the free Core Rules, you’ll have almost everything you need to get started in the new edition.

Physical datasheets are much easier to reference in the heat of battle. The cards are great to line up behind your deployment zone, so you can see your force’s abilities – it’s never been easier to check how many Intercessors you can cram into an Impulsor, or which of your Librarian’s attacks have the Psychic tag.

You’ll be able to order your own set when pre-orders go live very soon, but every faction’s deck will be made available as a free PDF download from Warhammer Community, starting with the forces featured in Leviathan, and then rolling out the other armies next week.

Of course, the advantage of the PDF datacards is that they’ll be the most up-to-date – any errata or other changes to the Index will also be updated on the cards. Keep an eye on Warhammer Community in the coming days as we make more faction Indexes available for download!

There is a third way to peruse your units. Every unit in these Index decks will be added to the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 app alongside the new Battle Forge tool to help you plan your army. These have all been rebuilt from the ground up for the new edition, and we’ll have more news on the new app very soon.

Sign up to the Warhammer newsletter for a heads-up on new downloads, Index card Pre-orders, and more info on new apps.

* Exceptions are the specific Space Marine Chapters, who use the army rule from the Space Marine cards, and Imperial Agents, who have no Detachment.
